The refereeing during that fight was superb, he trusted that Fury wasn't done, and we got that amazing payoff in the last round as a result of it. So many people saying Usyk "would have" finished him in the 12th, but you absolutely never know in boxing. Usyk couldn't land a clean punch for 11 rounds but yeah "job was done" for sure. Absolute joke.

It's standard protocol for the broadcaster to hide the clock in the final seconds of a round as it's unofficial and likely not in sync with the timekeeper, so it's hidden to avoid viewer confusion.

@zombiemanjay @TRAPPADUNYATRAP You people act like you've never seen someone spit out a mouthguard in boxing before. If he did it twice in two rounds in a row it's a different story, but in this case he was comfortably within the realms of plausible deniability, you can't use it against him.

Here is my nuanced take on the Usyk v. Rico fight. The stoppage was bad (everyone can agree) however Rico got way too much to recover with the mouthpiece stalling tactics after the knockdown. The fight was definitely a lot closer than a lot of people are willing to give it credit for because of underdog bias but I do think Rico should’ve be up on the cards tho. Rico was probably going to get stopped in the 12th round but we’ll never really know and that sucks. Rico got robbed of a chance to win but I don’t necessarily agree with the notion that it was a certain outcome that he would’ve won if the stoppage didn’t happen. Rico at the end of the day put himself in a bad spot and also Usyk looks bad for the fight being that competitive.

@SteveSpevack As you’ll know it’s a totally different experience watching on tele to being in the arena, but even from where I was, it’s hard to make an argument for the fight going beyond 9. Wardley was reduced to looking for one shot, whilst he defended Dubois’ shots with his face.
