No, Homer believes in a fate so powerful that even the gods don't risk meddling with it. When his son Sarpedon is about to fight Patroclus, Zeus is moved with pity and considers snatching him out of the battle to set him down alive in Lycia, but Hera reminds him that the doomed boy's fate is already sealed, and Zeus cries tears of blood.

@Critical_Scribe The issue is if he was clumsy with it, and it wasn't heavy, he would likely have killed or maimed himself pretty quickly.

My issue with the “weight” of the dark saber in this scene is that it just doesn’t make any sense. It’s a weapon made of light, it’s not gonna be heavy. However, the intent behind the scene is good. Showing Din being clumsy with it and untrained adds a good level of believability to the scene, and sets up for future growth. I just think the weightlessness of the weapon should be the thing that throws him off, like he over swings a lot and either hits himself (like in the scene but more often) or produces openings that get exploited. It’s a shame that this never turns into anything >.>

I unironically agree. The Last Jedi is a brilliant film. To be fair, Holdo was poorly written and dragged down its overall quality a bit. But it works as an earnest interrogation of mythology, and it temporarily broke Rey out of being a Mary Sue, allowing her to make catastrophic choices. It’s technically brilliant with striking red motifs and action choreography. The Last Jedi is a flawed masterpiece. And we will never see a Star Wars movie this ambitious or original again.

Obi-wan as a ghost instructs him to confront, face, and even destroy Vader, and that's what we see at the end. He destroys "Vader" by putting down his weapon and chosing not to kill.

@how2fixtv @thatchthoughts @robot_slug He has to go there and confront Vader. He literally has to intervene. And both Yoda and Obi-Wan are concerned with his ability to defeat them. They did not instruct him to intervene, but train him to kill. As seen by the whole thing about the battle.

@BobWhencer @thatchthoughts @robot_slug The instructions are consistent. Unless he is fully trained in the force, he will fail. He fails his initial test because he cuts down the vision of Vader with his lightsaber. Killing Vader is failing to follow the teachings of the Jedi.

@iniemohk I've worked in the US and in China, and I've visited North Korea. Labor is genuinely exactly the same in all 3 locations. You show up, you complete your assigned task, you can play games to advance your position or you can play games to do less actual work.

As someone who's anti-grappling strategy has always been to hit the other guy so hard when he goes for the clinch that he forgets what he was gonna do when he gets close - a sumo wrestler is the LAST dude I'd want to fight

so @J0hnADouglas is absolutely right about sumo wrestlers being human beings too but this is also an important point, the usual strategy of "hit them really hard as they close" is more difficult when you're trying to stop an Indiana Jones rolling boulder trap with a punch
