Not totally convinced Richard Tice is on the side of wanting lots more regulation of AI?

Has any other British politician highlighted the cybersecurity risks from new AI models like this? I am surprised (but pleased!) to see this from Reform before anyone else.

I've written to Cabinet Office Minister Darren Jones to urge the Government to engage with AI firm Anthropic whose new frontier model Claude Mythos could present catastrophic cybersecurity risks to the UK

The fact that it takes AI labs 3 days to ship 8 codex app updates and 3 months to 'ship' a new pricing plan should tell you a lot about what you should realistically expect about how quickly AI will change the world

The impact that @swyx is already having on the London AI industry with @aiDotEngineer is incredible.
Today there were builders from every frontier lab, the UK government, the hottest AI start-ups in London - hell he even managed to get me into 10 Downing Street for breakfast, and he's visiting - I LIVE HERE.

I spent over a decade working with children & young people. They used to tell me ‘youth clubs’ would be the last place they’d go. They would also raise concerns that it would be a ‘static’ location to find rivals etc. What’s the evidence base for this?

@s8mb @AISecurityInst Those get put in the "end of the world" bucket in my head, but I guess the question is what do you do about it? The reaction to the EU AI Act was *not* good. I'm skeptical UK can be significantly more intrusive without alienating a lot of Americans, investors and tech talent?

@AndreasThinks @AISecurityInst I don't think "end the world" bad is what we should be focusing on for the most part (though I think there is quite a bit of overlap between solving this and non-X-risks). Crippling the NHS/police/Trident subs/airports is the more imminent risk that requires govt attention.

@s8mb @AISecurityInst Should also add I don't think we *should* do that, just that UKG is probably the single best gov in terms of technical competence on these issues... but if we think it's potentialy "end of the world bad" then probably a regulatory not a technical competence issue.

@s8mb @AISecurityInst Sadly I think that's not got much to do with government will as much as geopolitical reality (eg, we think the EU AI act is a bit wishy washy and want a strong AI and algorithm regulator with teeth is unlikely to go down well in Washington or with markets).

The AI scene in London is crazy.
The number of high quality AI companies building across the city is phenomenal:

And SO MANY MORE.
The map also highlights one of the big issues in London - that startups are so spread out.
Without density you lack serendipity and that's definitely an issue in London. Overall though the city is THRIVING.
