Don’t be a Twitter bully. I believe what Sarah-Lou is saying to you is likely accurate. I am not certain Letby is innocent, but I am now effectively certain she did not receive a fair trial, or even close to it, and there are major, serious problems with the scientific ‘evidence’ that the case relies on and collapses without. I have a science BA from Oxford, a science PhD from Cambridge, a national award for my PhD research, and experience at the height of government in 10 Downing Street on how science, medicine, law, and politics interact and how serious mistakes and wrong conclusions can happen by groups of entirely well meaning people. Am I a ‘worthless crank’ too? I am happy to send you the New Yorker article, which unlike U.K. reporting has raw court transcripts, if you wish to inform yourself. It is exceptionally disturbing.

Letby used this excuse in court. She was repeatedly asked to explain how “understaffing” could explain sudden collapses and poisonings but was unable to do so.

@PaulKirkby3 Wow, - It would be outrageous if People didn't have a right to ask for permission to appeal. Hundreds of miscarriage of justices happen in this country every year. Juries don't always get it right!

@DrRaviJ @drcmday Exactly how I felt about how a poor whistle blower ended up in prison for others failing.
