@AndrewAndy63 @clairlemon @ChrisMinnsMP @TheAustralian To be fair to Minns, the prospect of the federal government acting as the financial guardian of the state of Victoria - such that we are all now funding the Melbourne suburban rail loop – would be very aggravating to a NSW premier

@clairlemon @ChrisMinnsMP @TheAustralian Am told that this Federal Budget is electorally savvy in terms of Labor's theory of rewarding/punishing the key electoral demographics ... but if so, Chris Minns, up for re-election next March, does not seem to be seeing the same Labor polling .... both views cannot be right

Have been arguing with people on Reddit about Chalmers' budget & CGT changes. The people defending the budget seem to think that only rich people start small businesses & that anyone with a capital gain won't notice they're paying half of it to the government.

The Giggle vs Tickle outcome marked a triumph of trans rights over women’s rights in this country. Many will find it surprising that it was Australia's only female Prime Minister that sent us down this devastating path. This descent began in 2013 when Julia Gillard infamously removed the definition of “woman” from the Sex Discrimination Act. Labor’s incoherent and baseless morality has reached its logical conclusion. Progressive politics has left women worse off. Article linked in comments

Sadly, from much testimony, appears Aust school students have learnt a little about WWII but not enough to be shaken by the calculated evil and depravity which occurred. And if young people cannot identify evil, then people of all faiths (and none) are less safe going forward.

“Hitler didn’t finish the job.” An Australian father recounts the antisemitic bullying that eventually led his son to leave his school in the Northern Territory. Testimony given at the May 6 hearing of the Royal Commission on Antisemitism.

I've decided I have been rubbish at tipping. Ive gone conservative all year. Im so behind I am just going to start tipping on instinct. I fully expect to plummet even further down the ladder. @HardBallGetsAFL I want X to send that cash to Vic.

Canberra needs to sort this immediately. We have been in contact with them this morning. Corporal Cameron Baird VC MG is a hero who represents the very best of Australia. His legacy should never be diminished by budget decisions. Thank you for highlighting @GrayConnolly.
Gray Connolly@GrayConnolly

It is mind-boggling that the Federal Govt will not fund the travel of the parents of the late Cameron Baird, VC, who represent him at events for the Victoria Cross because their son was killed in action in Afghanistan in 2013

But for Australia being an energy superpower, we could not afford any of the bureaucratic largesse bestowed on David and his ilk ... thankfully the last decade is educating the ignorant in energy realities albeit the hard way
David Pocock@DavidPocock

The gas industry is panicking & spending millions to protect billions in profit from exporting our gas. But no amount of glossy advertising will stop Australians demanding a fair return - a 25% gas export tax to make exporters finally pay their share. smh.com.au/business/compa…

All of which is playing in the minds of leadership back in Washington. How many more lives are lost, in the face of an enemy that refuses to acknowledge its defeat? Enter Little Boy and Fat Man. Devastating move, with terrible consequences, but I can understand their belief that Japan would not surrender.

@GrayConnolly Yes and this is reinforced in Wootten’s letters home at time. Japan’s forces fought fiercely in Borneo, with Australia notably losing some of our best and most experienced men who had survived earlier theatres of war. There would have been no expectation of a quick end to the war

People forget that at this stage, both Generals think they will soon be planning for the invasion of the Japanese home islands - in June 1945, their war, in their minds, probably still has at least another 2-3 years to run & an horrendous Allied bodycount
Margaret Joseph@MmarianneJoseph

My great-grandfather, sleeves rolled up for the tropical weather, accompanying MacArthur on a tour of Army installations on Borneo, June 1945, WWII. MacArthur is in his typically relaxed pose! By that stage, he and Wootten trusted each other’s judgment, after early hiccups. 🇦🇺🇺🇸

Chalmers and Albanese has lost my vote. We own one house. It’s going to be heavily taxed as we prepare to downsize and prepare for retirement in a decade. It’s an indiscriminate cash grab. And it won’t help my son who is trying to buy his first home

@joe_rigney Can you point to a particular sentence in Acts where the language indicates Paul was attempting to get in front of Roman officials?

Paul spends most of the book of Acts attempting to get in front of every Roman magistrate he possibly can in order to preach the gospel to them and call them to govern according to righteousness, self-control, and the coming judgment, while writing a letter to the church in the imperial capital that includes a description of the magistrate's role as God's minister to punish what is evil and reward what is good.
Presbycast@presbycast

Just like the late 19th/early 20th century Protestant liberals, Christian Nationalists have little use for the Apostle Paul with regard to their project. Machen wrote "The Origin of Paul's Religion." We could write, "The Non-Existence of Paul's Christian Nationalism."
