In his new blog, “The position of the shadow Attorney General: why Labour’s attack misses the mark”, William Knatchbull deplores Labour’s recent attack on Lord Wolfson of Tredegar KC, the shadow Attorney General.  You can read it here: conservativelawyers.com/post/the-posit…

@piersmorgan great to see you talking sense on @bbclaurak not least pulling Reeves up on the “asking people to contribute more” spin: as you say it’s a demand or fine/prison. Emblematic of her approach to language?

@BarbaraRich_law An unwelcome development in our area of practise, Barbara. I see an added burden of stress, tacit pressure and complexity, masquerading as “choice”.

If this was a conviction project or even simply supported by Sir Keir Starmer, as incoming prime minister, he should have included it in his party’s general election manifesto and brought it to Parliament as a government Bill, not like this, a PMB on a promise to Esther Rantzen

Vote on the third reading in the House of Commons on the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill, a majority of 23 at 314-291. Thank you to all those who have argued lucidly and who voted against the Bill, although in the end dissent did not prevail
Philip Murray@philipmurraylaw

A majority of 23 for seismic social change that was in no party's manifesto. I hope the House of Lords saves us from the catastrophe that MPs seek to visit upon us.

Imagine having quietly donated an estimated £200M to make a difference to the lives of children, army veterans and people affected by Covid-19, and for research into and treatment of neurological disease, as @jk_rowling has done, but still have people like this cavilling at you

Man objects to woman who has a fortune she has earned through the success of her work as a writer spending her money on philanthropic projects of her choice. I’d point his pejorative “obscene”, “wretchedness” and “immorality” in a quite different direction

So much for Keir Starmer’s pledge to ‘smash the people-smuggling gangs’. Now he’s offering landlords five-year guaranteed full rent deals at the taxpayer’s expense to house the people they’re smuggling. From ‘smash’ to ‘complicit’ in a matter of months. Remarkable.

@afneil Yes almost bullying on the part of @TVNaga01 & her co-host, who both came across as really unpleasant. Hardly the “gotcha” moment they thought it was.

To spend an interview with the Leader of the Opposition on a supposedly serious news programme beating her up for not watching a particular TV drama (not a documentary as they kept calling it) is quite surreal. Ms Badenoch politely held her ground well. I would have been rather more robust with the interlocutors.

A totally bonkers interview in which BBC presenters interrogate a politician because she hasn’t watched a TV show…

In case you’re reading Camilla Tominey in Telegraph abt Kay Burley leaving Sky, there’s at least 1 inaccuracy in the piece She mentions Newsnight & claims it’s ‘haemorrhaging viewers’ Not true The audience figures are up 30% since the new format began last May

Visible in the front line of this march are two serving MPs, one of whom was formerly leader of the Parliamentary opposition and might have become Prime Minister if his party had secured enough votes at a general election. Now leading lawless behaviour on London’s streets
The Electronic Uprising@uprising_1

The leaders of the march are leading the demonstration through police lines to the BBC. Police were clear this was illegal and they couldn't do it, the crowd have made it as far as Trafalgar Sq where Police are now blocking them. Brace for a riot!!

@elonmusk Perhaps, like me, you feel as much anger towards those who covered it up as the perpetrators. Thank you for highlighting this issue and forcing it into the spot light. The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice, as they say.
