@wt_analysis it felt very obvious that we were overloaded in midfield because of formation, they kept outnumbering us and getting through the middle, VP needed to adjust that earlier (the change worked). Nico was knackered and got sucked into bad choices, they really took advantage of that.

Thoughts on #NFFC today. A very disappointing afternoon & performance, but even then the difference between the two sides was essentially some poor decision making & execution from individuals. The first goal, Williams could have successfully cleared it twice. He doesn't, and eventually the ball comes to Gomez who is shaping up to have a shot very early, Murillo doesn't do anywhere near enough to close him down, and Sels is weak and lets the ball go past him. For the second, Williams follows Gomez as he carries the ball, but nobody covers for him. Anderson has Welbeck right behind him but never checks his shoulder - eventually Murillo is caught in a 2 v 1, which makes it difficult for him to affect the cross. Williams gets back well but can't stop the header back across, and Murillo is then beaten too easily by Welbeck in the box. Forest's midfield on Thursday took a lot of stick for their performance, and although I think a lot of that was down to the tactical set up, there's no doubt they didn't perform well enough in that first half. Well today's midfield personnel deserve just as much stick for a similar poor performance. Anderson & Sangare were virtually anonymous unless we saw them getting bypassed by Brighton's slick midfield passing. The positives (yes there were some!) for me come from Pereira's willingness to change the set up. After half an hour, Sels went down with an "injury", and Pereira seemed to tweak responsibilities on Forest's left - this stopped Wieffer & Gomez having as much success against Hudson-Odoi who was really struggling with his responsibilities. Then, early in the second half, Forest switched formation to a back 3 and seemed to have much better control of the game. Yes, some of that comes down to Brighton being in front already, but overall Forest looked much more solid. I'd expect to see this system used again on Wednesday against Man City before Pereira makes a call on what system to use for the rest of the season. Morgan Gibbs-White was easily the man of the match today, a tremendous performance from him where he tried to drag players along with him, but unfortunately they never followed. Decent outings too for Igor Jesus, Hudson-Odoi & Aina, as well as nice impressions off the bench from Jair Cunha & Luca Netz. Forest just have to hope West Ham don't get a win next week, or they will surely be in the relegation zone as it's hard to see them getting anything out of Man City at the Etihad on Wednesday night.
