@Jabaluck @avidseries I see the effects documented are only for hispanic applicants. There is no mention of immigration anywhere in the study. I am left wondering, is this a preference for immigrants that is actually being evaluated?

If you're confident in your beliefs because dumb people don't have answers, you are making an epistemic error. The best evidence suggests affirmative action probably increased wages on net; net benefits for URM applicants exceeded harms to white and asian applicants. @avidseries

Estimated number of times I've politely replied with accurate statistical data to a large left-leaning account who has tweeted provably-false claims about affirmative action: About 100 Number of times I've received a response: 0 Number of times I was instantly blocked: About 50

@ikumen_arasaa_ Most of Americans hate communism because we believe in the rights of the individual human, and your life should be determined by how hard you work. There are a lot of people here who think communism works and they’re called the Democrats.

Are you kidding me? Are you fucking kidding me right now? Is this fucking joke? Fukushima? Really? I mean, Japan did some pretty awful stuff in WW2, but... Fukushima? Of all the ridiculous things to feel guilty over... Fukushima was hit by multiple 50 foot tidal waves from a 9.1 earthquake at sea. That's not a fucking nuclear accident. That's your nuclear plant being hit by the hammer of god. And after that, you contained it. You took the hand fate dealt you and you played it with everything you had. You had workers volunteering to be heroes, to stay and fight to shut that thing down. And you saved... everyone. Not a single clearly connected death. In the middle of a natural disaster that cost you fifteen thousand souls, your people fought this thing and won. Chernobyl is something for Russians to be ashamed of, because that was their own screwup, and stupid communists can't do anything right. Fukushima wasn't your screwup. Fukushima happened to you. And your men stopped it. Fukushima is not your national shame. It is one of your finest hours.

I don’t think people realize how much healthcare costs are driving big companies to fire and not hire. It costs them $30k per family, per year for premiums and care. Most of that goes to the massive, vertically integrated insurance companies that send weekly bills that no one reviews in details. And it doesn’t include the company overhead to deal with it all. It’s usually the 2nd largest expense after payroll. Which is insane It’s far easier to blame AI than it is to blame Healthcare costs. Want to increase jobs, wages and improve affordability for every American ? Break up the biggest insurance companies. Make divest non insurance companies. They don’t need thousands of subsidiaries. That’s how they game and abuse the system and increase costs for all of us. Call your senator and tell them to support the BreakUp Big Medicine Bill by @HawleyMO and @SenWarren.

@Otter26and Women do indeed ride as passengers more often. Sorry for my lack of precision! Rather, contemporary evidence that the passenger seat is more dangerous than the driver's seat is lacking. Indeed evidence on this question is likely confounded by women being passengers more often!

What do you mean 2) is not supported. They don't ride on passenger more than men or is it not more dangerous to be on passenger seat? "According to the American Time Use Survey (ATUS), women spend about 29% of their in-car time as passengers. This is more than twice the rate for men (around 12–14%). Men spend a much higher share of their car time actually driving"

NYT blames on dummies for women higher rate of bad outcomes after a crash. Is it the dummies? 1) women are more frail - thinner bones, joints, not built for combat or high intensity sports. We get hurt more on every sport for this reason. 2) women use the passenger seat more often - way more dangerous. 3) women actually die less and get in fewer car crashes (men are more risk taking) - so the stats works only for those who did get into an accident, not the whole population.

@CaptainDeny I’m not MAGA , dude that tweet was a joke. I say in the thread several times it’s a joke. I associate with creators who are LEFT and RIGHT . I’ve been on Destinys podcast man! Wish you had reached out to me to confirm any of this it would have taken you 2 minutes instead of making a whole video lying about me trying to wreck my reputation. I was a fan of your work before too do. You’re disappointed? How do you think I feel.

@JamesRaxz Always frustrated by people who are so historically illiterate that they don't know how costly war is (in blood and $$) and somehow don't understand the concept of peace through strength. Spend 2% more of GDP now, avoid spending 36% later (oh, and the dying).

This is universal healthcare. It’s a down payment - and just a down payment - on all Americans not dying horribly in the next major war and having a healthy life where they can care about other things. The global security situation is badly deteriorating vs 10 years ago.

Some sociologists have proposed that American society discriminates against those with distinctively "Black names". One proposed effect is that people with Black names do worse on tests. However, they actually do no worse than their siblings with less Black names:

Not gonna sugar coat this and do not care if it costs me my new Pentagon press credentials and access to this administration. The left smeared my name in a major WAPO hit piece and the right can do the same. I’m a captain, I can live alone in the ocean. 👉 The Strait of Homuz is an epic failure. Today’s news, no escorts until late month, has ramifications few understand. US Merchant Marine ships have been attacked. This is not panickan. This is not a damnation of Trump. This is hard truth 👇 A GLOBALIST MOLE INSIDE THE ADMINISTRATION CAUSED THIS We entered this admin with a set of maritime appointments & prospective appointments not seen since FDR… possibly Teddy. DEEP knowledge of shipping & DEEP maritime support. So how did we get to the most important energy and food (1/3rd of all fertilizer) chokepoint in the world getting cut off? Well our Trump 1.0 appointees were globalist heavy hitters. Commerce secretary Wilbur Ross managed ships for the Rothchilds. Our DOT secretary Elaine Chao, is married to Mitch McConnell & heiress to a shipping fortune tied to China. We already know how tied to the globalist Mark Milley was and Pete Buttigieg was McKinsey. Trump knew this & formulated a team of the best maritime advisors ever seen. A Dream Team & I know because most are friends of mine. ALL BUT FOUR HAVE BEEN SNIPED Who remains? Trump himself is a strong supporter. Hegseth has focused more on naval and shipping that any DoD secretary this century. Elbridge Colby understands the critical importance of the maritime domain Russ Vought has pushed the Maritime Action But what do these four have in common? They are all at THE center of the bullseye from MSM and globalist attacks. And all are extremely busy with other things. ALL OTHER MEMBERS OF THE MARITIME DREAM TEAM HAVE BEEN SNIPED OR SIDELINED JD VANCE - has worked tirelessly behind the scenes as for shipping deals including icebreakers. Strangely silent lately. Charlie Kirk - Assasinated Mike Waltz - author of the SHIPs for America Act… pushed out of NSC Dan Caldwell - top OSD official escorted out of the pentagon Alex Wong - Under at NSC and now shipbuilding executive axed Bruce Kimbrell- organizer of the SHIPs act axed from NSC Ian Bennitt - NSC maritime head, gone along with his staff Jerry Hendrix - NSC shipbuilding, pushed to OMB Brent Sadler - the #1 maritime think tank strategist in the world, sniped nomination as Maritime Administrator Morgan Ortagus - right hand to Witkoff, killed by a smear campaign Kristi Noem - absolutely saved the US Coast Guard and delivered the winning blow to the UN Maritime arm in London Sean Plankey - USCG is the lead on ship protection and regulations. He was Noem’s right hand man for reforms. Gone alongside Noem. Lou Sola - Federal Maritime Commission Chairman who was investigating globalist control of trade Jon Harrison - the Navy Chief of Staff who focused on sealift and Merchant Marine, fired. Sal Mercogliano - nomination killed to be the US Merchant Marine’s top Admiral Ross Kennedy - moved out of Commerce John Mills - buried in a minor office at state And yes me. And that’s just the big names. So many others with deep maritime expertise have been hit by this organized political action campaign. The only very senior person who hasn’t was a senior executive at Maersk. You can call me a crazy conspiracy theorist, you can explain rational reasoning for each snipe, but collectively this is damning Who is behind this systematic sniping? Wish I knew. Rumors range from the Deputy National Security Adviser who took effective control of the NSC from Waltz… to shadow figures in London. The only people I am 💯 certain are not behind this are Hegseth and Trump himself because everyone I talk to reiterate their continued support. This is why the Strait of Hormuz has become a disaster… Trump set up a Dream Team to target globalist control of shipping and that expertise has been gutted.

My academic work is on the history of the idea of human extinction. Every time I’ve written about this for a mainstream outlet I’ve been absolutely bombarded with emails from people saying they hope humanity goes extinct. Can confirm it’s a very odd and disconcerting experience.
Alyssa Rosenberg@AlyssaRosenberg

When I was the letters editor at The Washington Post, it was consistently shocking to me how many letters we got suggesting it would be a good thing for the human race to just go extinct.
