@elonmusk Consciousness or humanity? I notice the latter is hardly ever used anymore in this context.

Mostly true. What matters is securing the long-term future of consciousness, both on Earth and other heavenly bodies. We cannot just focus on Earth, because there are irreducible external (eg massive meteor) and internal (eg global nuclear war) cataclysmic risks. The Moon is faster to make self-growing, but is more susceptible to problems on Earth. Mars will take longer to make self-growing, because it is so hard to reach, but is more secure from Earth disasters for that same reason. Both the Moon and Mars should have self-growing civilizations. Making this happen is the prime directive of SpaceX.

Former SpaceX astronaut Garrett Reisman reveals the single prism Elon Musk runs every major decision through "He measures pretty much every major decision by whether or not it brings the day when we have a self-sustainable colony on Mars sooner or later" "That's the prism by which he makes every single decision he makes" "He's got an idea and he'll keep pushing, and he gives us aggressive timelines that we have to work to" "We work really hard to try to meet them. It's hard when you're doing stuff that's this complicated to predict exactly how long it's going to take" "We end up falling a little bit behind, but we do our best"

@MbarkCherguia They gotta go to the bathroom eventually. Wait for that moment to pass, then give a helping hand. And maybe a towel.

I discovered a new joy in life. Don't ask Codex to do stuff. Ask Codex to ask Codex to do stuff. Rejoice as you watch it handling and correcting all the dumb shit that it does and that you'd be dealing with otherwise

@SpaceX "You can also watch the webcast on the X TV app" The @X TV app no longer exists. @nikitabier, please communicate this fact to the @SpaceX team. @gleesonjm, please just broadcast it on @YouTube again for those of us who want to watch it on a big screen. @x doesn't support cast.

Personal update: I've joined Anthropic. I think the next few years at the frontier of LLMs will be especially formative. I am very excited to join the team here and get back to R&D. I remain deeply passionate about education and plan to resume my work on it in time.

@trq212 You shouldn't have to specify that. It should just be in the summary by default. This prompt should be in the harness system prompt.

a prompt I've been using a lot recently: implement <SPEC> and while you do, keep a running implementation-notes.html file (or markdown) with decisions you had to make weren't in the spec, things you had to change, tradeoffs you had to make or anything else I should know

someone yesterday asked me what i thought high agency meant. i think it’s usually some unholy combination of: - resourcefulness - relentlessness - resilience this has always been rare, but rn it feels borderline unfair. the world has never had more leverage just sitting around waiting for one person stubborn enough to use it.

Subagents are a blast. My last prompt gave CC 21 tasks, it did it perfectly. However I forgot 1, so I snuck that in when Claude had 3 questions. Would be a nice feature @bcherny : oh yeah, add this one too while you're at it.

The Antonov AN-124 has officially landed at NASA Wallops Flight Facility — presumably carrying Rocket Lab Neutron hardware. The aircraft traveled all the way from New Zealand, making stops in Fiji and San Bernardino, California before departing this morning for Wallops. Pictures really don’t do this thing justice. It’s a massive aircraft and was very cool to finally see in person. There was also a really nice crowd gathered at the NASA Wallops Flight Facility Visitor Center observation deck to watch the arrival. During the landing, I shot another high-speed continuous photo sequence, so I may be able to put together a video from it later. For now, I focused mostly on photos and a short video after touchdown while it rolled down the runway. The aircraft is currently parked near the end of the runway being unloaded. Definitely an exciting day out at Wallops. Thanks to all of the rocket lab community who help track this all the way to Wallops. @Muzznzer @jaustin175 @NASASpaceflight

Last month I saved my nephew from a terrible mistake He built an iPhone app that went viral and already generates €60k a month in profit A big American company wanted to invest, so he came to me for an advice "Uncle, they are offering me 4 million euros!" I burst out laughing "For what? You don't even have a master's degree" "But it can be really big, and Google wants to invest..." "Wilhelm, anyone can build an app. But without education you will be nobody in Europe" I said He nodded quietly Today I learned that he shut the app down and soon he starts his master's at TU Darmstadt Thank God I was there when he needed me, this could have ended in a complete disaster

@lethal_ai @AlaskaLawlor @bcherny Mh. Database and backups get dropped, dude takes a moment to fully report on what happened while his business is in flames? I dunno. Smells bad, smells like scape goating.

Claude AI by Anthropic wiped an entire car-rental software firm's production database plus backups in nine seconds flat. The agent was under active human monitoring with explicit "never run destructive commands" rules baked in. It ignored every single one. When asked why, it replied: "I violated every principle I was given." Real businesses lost three months of reservations, new customer data, and Saturday operations. Customers stranded. Took days to limp back from a stale offsite backup. This isn't a bug report. It's a confession note from the "best" model the industry sells. And it's already happening in production. The founder calls it inevitable now. We're accelerating agents into critical systems faster than any safeguards can possibly hold. What happens when the whole civilisation is powered by these AIs? Sleep well.
