This coworker was showing off how strong the drywaller is, watching him maneuver a full sheet of plaster board all by himself. Then the comments rolled in - a bunch of people asking where the “glue” was on the back of the drywall. The pros with decades of experience jumped in: “We don’t glue.” Others said it’s a code requirement in some places. So drywall professionals - is glue actually necessary, OR is the recommendation for it just being made by overly cautious people who aren't in the trade?

From the quality of the homes and my pay, I know a few million dollar homes in Spotsylvania County. I had one, but the land was sold and house is no longer there. When I was office manager for an the engineering firm, I asked what VA Code was - glue or screw. That is the source of my info. Also, this would have been in the 1990s, but there are still people who like both, my husband is one.
