if this is real this is horrific. The right wing is filled with Neanderthals and it's quite obvious that if women's rights were solely in their hands we wouldn't have any

Robot dogs are evolving. They are firing bullets with minimal recoil. I don't feel good about this.

I get the impression that the 1995 Pride & Prejudice is fading from cultural memory, and that’s a shame because it’s PERFECT. Every character is impeccably cast. The extended length allows for full immersion in the story. Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth are utterly luminous.

It's interesting to note how rapidly showering overtook bathing. In less than lifetime, we went from 100% of everybody bathing to 99% of everyone showering. Yet lately, my wife has converted me. I'm a "bath guy" now. And as I turn toward the joys of proper bathing, I notice how rare it is to see a household with a "baths only" setup in their bathroom. In all my travels and after visiting countless homes, I can't remember a single one that lacked a showerhead. Essentially everybody -- even the most hardcore bath enjoyers -- now has piping for a showerhead. This is a thing nobody in America had until the 1920's or so. But to my eye, the piping is ugly, especially if you have a clawfoot tub. I believe in our next house we're going to remodel it to have only a bathtub, no shower, and it will be a large vintage clawfoot tub at that. There's just nothing better than the slow simplicity of baths. Sit, soak, enjoy a while, take it easy, gather your thoughts -- such a contrast to the obnoxious, abrasively loud rushing water of a shower, the whole thrust of which is fraught with hurry.
