@RonniSalt the discourse around this, especially the royal commission, is all about the green light to go as hard as possible at people like Cathy. Funny how there was so much anger and vitriol at giving a voice to people whose country we stole when really all it takes is money and media

Another highly qualified woman the pro-Israel lobby have a problem with Cathy Willcox's job is a political cartoonist; she is not an abalone diver Her entire job is to question, analyse and provoke discussion - that is the entire point of a political cartoonist She is one of the greatest cartoonists Australia has ever produced, of far more astuteness, intelligence and respect in her profession than the men now inciting a disgusting pile-on, to the point this woman is now fearing for her safety Anybody who's still supporting this narrative by this stage knows exactly what they're doing .

If the Poms had thrown away their wickets the way Australia did today, the press would be all over them. Some terrible decision making on an absoluyte road of a pitch and England is well ahead #Ashes

@ellymelly a huge problem because.? he stands for nothing, serves vested interests and fucks over his electorate, and of course there's the lying in the gutter drunk stuff. But I'm sure you have LOTS of examples of what an upstanding champion of the ordinary person this walking parasite is

Barnaby Joyce officially joins One Nation. Talk about giving the Coalition coal for Christmas 😂 In all seriousness, this is a huge problem for Sussan Ley and Littleproud. It's a REFORM-level event and perhaps a final warning from voters. STORY | spectator.com.au/2025/12/barnab…

@RonniSalt I wouldn't say that Albanese has no ambition because it's clear that he is desperate to cling to power and will jettison whatever policies or fuck over whoever he thinks will support that aim.

Question - who is Australia’s best political writer? A few make it; Amy Remiekis, Urban Wronski, a handful of others. Right up there at the top for me is Sean Kelly, who’s written a searching, thoughtful and almost troubled analysis of the current Albanese govt in the current #QuarterlyEssay. Some may be concerned as I was, with the lack of women in the piece, whether that be politicians or philosophers or even, novelists. Most of the voices, citations and quotes in this piece are from men. That aside, it’s more an analysis of Albanese himself than his government, written from the perspective of a man who’s read the label from both inside and outside the bottle, (Kelly is a former Rudd/Gillard staffer). It's this intimate familiarity with the subject that gives the article two things – its layered, philosophical insights, as well as the sense that Kelly is unwittingly holding back on giving Albanese and his govt the torching they truly deserve. But layered nuance and not bold bluster is what Kelly does best. Kelly paints a picture of Albanese as a man trapped by his own certainty of an uncertain world; scared to govern, scared to confront, scared to lead, scared to move on anything that may upset those with the greatest assets of all - money and power. The Albanese of Kelly’s essay comes across as a paranoid political player whose entire adult life has been spent chasing power, and now that he has it, is too scared to lose it. Be careful what you wish for, especially if you do nothing with it when you get it. The Albanese of this article knows how to manage, but not how to govern. To manage is easy. To lead - now that’s the hard part. A lack of women’s voices notwithstanding, this is an absolute must-read for anyone interested in politics and contemporary Australia. 👇🏽 quarterlyessay.com.au/essay/2025/11/…

@RonniSalt this is also what stood out to me. The appeal judges were unequivocal with regard to their view that rape occurred

As always, the truth takes a while to catch up. The appeal judges found Wilkinson acted properly in terms of the extensive inquiries she made and the information she relied on. LW always acted appropriately. The judges disagreed with Justice Lee who had asserted the opposite.

The judgment in the Bruce Lehrmann appeal to the Federal Court has a few points that really stick out - apart from the fact the appeal judges agreed that Lehrmann's story was a total fabrication. @Lisa_Wilkinson was found to have been poorly done by in the original judgment.

@Tim_jbo for those illiterate morons among you (and god there are so many) the sign says this is a meeting of the US and Asean. So just to break this down, this means that the meeting is with...the US and all the Asean member countries! Signs and words are amazing! Have a blessed day all.

It's a pretty pathetic sign of how desperate Sussan Ley is - plumbing the depths of her handbag looking for inspiration - that she's clutching her plastic bangles about a 70's pop group on a t-shirt Next week - Sussan gives Australia a forceful lecture on Albo's racist socks .

Has Jillian Segal come out in support of her boss, Anthony Albanese yet? This would be the time for her to say something. Of course that's only if her actual boss - Israel - gives her the all clear. #pfffft
