The true disrespect is coming from the reporters asking these gold medal winning athletes about the men's team, over and over again, instead of focusing on their amazing accomplishment and how it can grow women's hockey.
It's really a shame.

USA women's hockey gold medalist @HilaryKnight describes her team's relationship with the USA men's team as one with a "genuine level of support and respect" that's being overshadowed by a "quick lapse." "Our achievements shouldn't be overshadowed by anything else other than how great they are."

There is no one on earth who wants the recognition less, and there is also no one on earth who deserves the recognition more.
I’ve flown alongside Eric for 18yrs. We grew up in Army Aviaton and in the 160th together. We’ve been brand new PIs, BMQs, FMQs, and FLDs together along the way.
He is the consummate quiet professional. By the grace of God and the skill of the greatest team on earth he’s still with us.
Eric I’m proud to have fought alongside you and even more proud to call you my friend.

@nynjpaweather No public debating is a great solution. Share your thoughts and let your product speak for itself.

So, based on reactions over the past two weeks, I am going to scale back on publicly explaining my thoughts on the weather pattern or weather in general.
I'm debating about publicly doing the weekly live chats too, especially if it is a threat to our safety, my wife and I. I have not made up my mind on this yet.
Some have said I have somehow changed since I took over as CDM Chair. It is true that, as chair, I also agree to take on the standards that the AMS expects to be standards. That means we have to have difficult conversations about what those standards are. They may rub people the wrong way, but most who take the CDM/CBM seals seriously understand what I am trying to do.
In my conversations with snow enthusiasts, I have never been insulting or used demeaning language. I have shared with them what I have learned over 25 years of studying science. It was never meant to be condescending, just trying to help teach.
Going forward, at least for now, I will share all my thoughts on the weather pattern in the Premium Discussions and videos. In public, I'll just create a basic forecast and move on. I think that will produce less drama, and if you like to post the snowiest public map, have fun.

…”adults don’t build fiscal policy around cherry-picked stats.” Great piece by @melissadderosa. Are there any grownups in the @NYCMayor administration?

“Our strategy until now has been to cling to the audience that remains on broadcast television. If we stick to that strategy, we’re toast.” -- Bari Weiss
She is 100% correct.
All of the hand-wringing over the changes she is making at CBS News overlook this fact: The current trajectory of CBS (and all mainstream media) is disastrous.
Anyone charged with leading a big news organization into the new media world HAS to be committed to making major changes in how they do business.
And that means taking big swings -- even if some (most) of them are whiffs.
