@RSA_Observer I think it is the other way around. Kuwait as a staging base for an American incursion into Iran. The oil-rich part of Iran is very close. These Iranian attack are a deterrent.

⬇️ The Iranians appear to be paying particular attention to Kuwait at this time. There is quite a lot of speculation about a possible Iranian ground invasion of Kuwait. I think it's unlikely because if it does happen it could be a serious mistake by Iran. Firstly, a ground invasion of Kuwait as a sovereign state may well trigger a definite change in direction of sentiment by both Congress and the American people on the necessity of war with Iran. Secondly, Iran would be opening itself to fighting exactly the kind of war the United States excels at.

@Navsteva Unless Putin takes Odessa, Kharkov and Dnipro, a peace would be a defeat. And in any case there would another war soon after Europe rearms. Russia needs to break Ukraine's back so that it will never recover. It should be left a landlocked country of 15 million people.

@FinanceLancelot 100% Agree. I see people being long the stock market and short oil, and I can't understand their logic. Even if you expect stocks to grow due to money printing, then oil should go up as well. And if you short oil because you expect a recession, then you shouldn't be long stocks.

@DarioCpx @TFL1728 Both oil and the stock markets are priced to perfection - i.e. they assume that the best possible outcome is also the most likely. I wonder how a person going short oil, or long the Nasdaq, expects to make money. All possible positives are already priced in.

Not only is $USO short interest ~130%, but the Fails To Deliver are so high that in some days, more USO shares failed to deliver than the total volume traded on that day If this is a good proxy for the whole market, as I think it is, the stage is set for an epic oil #MOASS

It always makes me laugh when I see some far-right or far-left „influencers“ share their excitement about their trips to Russia. In reality, Russia's standard of living is closer to the third world than to other countries in the region. Why do people believe this propaganda?

EXPECTED TERMS OF US-IRAN 60-DAY CEASEFIRE EXTENSION, PER AXIOS: 1. The ceasefire will be extended via a "Memorandum of Understanding" 2. This establishes a 60-day window to "launch negotiations on Iran's nuclear program" 3. During the 60-day period, shipping through the Strait of Hormuz will be "unrestricted" 4. The US Navy will lift its blockade in proportion to the restoration of commercial shipping 5. Iran will include a commitment not to pursue a nuclear weapon in the Memorandum of Understanding 6. The Memorandum of Understanding will also state that the nuclear issues will be discussed "first" during the 60-day window 7. The US will commit to discussing sanction relief and the release of frozen Iranian funds 8. The Memorandum of Understanding will also include a mechanism to help Iran begin receiving goods and humanitarian aid US stock markets are surging to fresh record highs on the news of a potential deal. We now await final approval of the deal.

@RSA_Observer As you rightly say, time is on Iran's side. Congress may soon make it impossible for Trump to continue the war, oil reserves are being depleted, and this incoming weekend will see the USA markets closed for 3 days. If Trump decides to roll the dice, it will probably be now.

Important. It appears to be almost certain that it is only a matter of time before Congress forces Trump to end the increasingly unpopular war on Iran. ⬇️ Gift link. This creates a dilemma for Trump. If he doesn't strike Iran now, he may not be able to do so later. But if he does strike, he makes it all that much more likely that Congress will act to force an end to the war. From the Iranian perspective this is ideal. All they have to is drag the negotiations out and wait. Unlike Trump they are not negotiating against the Congress and midterms clock. Alternatively, if Trump attacks them, they simply retaliate to cause more economic havoc. Either way, the running down of strategic petroleum reserves makes it only a matter of time until the economic weight becomes unbearable within the American political system. But frankly, it's too late - the damage is done and will take a long time to reverse. In the end it's going to turn out the way I predicted to someone at the beginning, "When the war finally ends the Iranians will be standing in a pile of rubble but they will still be standing and they will still have control of the Strait of Hormuz and they will still hold their HEU." Strategically, between Trump and Congress they are going to end up handing Iran a previously unimaginable strategic win while leaving Israel and Netanyahu the worst of all possibilities. For the Arab states it means a total reorientation. This is going to change everything, and well beyond the Middle East. This will yet prove to be one of the most unnecessary but damaging wars in US history. nytimes.com/2026/05/21/us/…

@RSA_Observer It is the third day in a row that this "imminent agreement" has been announced. I doubt the Iranians are such fools as to accept these conditions. Re-opening Hormuz in exchange for the promise of negotiations and a possible future gradual removal of sanctions? Are you kidding?

@OmerShahar123

@ArmchairW Let's be realistic. The ratio is probably 5/6 to 1, which is still impressive. I would estimate 200K Russians KIA and 1,000K+ Ukrainians KIA.

I frequently cite a figure that 30 Ukrainians die for every Russian KIA in Ukraine. This figure is supported by publicly available data on military amputations as well as the regular casualty exchanges. It's literally the most substantiated casualty ratio estimate that exists.
