My sister went missing as a teen — 35 years later, I found her diary and finally learned what happened that day. My sister Adele disappeared when she was 14, and I was only 8 at the time. She went to school that Tuesday morning, took her lunch as usual — the one Mom had packed for her — and spent half the night preparing for a math test. She never made it to school that morning. Even though I was little, I remember how my parents searched for her everywhere — putting up her photos, asking her friends, and driving all over the city. The police searched for Adele. The school organized search groups. But nothing. It was very hard for my parents, especially when the police said that she was most likely dead. Thirty-five years have passed, and the pain of losing Adele is still felt by our entire family. A few days ago, my mom called me and said that my father had passed away. I drove to my parents' house and helped my mom organize the funeral. Not wanting to leave her alone, I stayed with her. Walking through the second floor of the house, I noticed the closed door to Adele's room. I couldn't resist and went inside. Mom had kept everything almost exactly the way it used to be. Suddenly, the floor creaked under me. The house hadn't been renovated in a long time, but the creak came from one specific spot. I looked down and saw that one of the floorboards seemed loose. I knelt down, lifted the board slightly, and saw a hidden space. Inside, I found a notebook wrapped in fabric and secured with a small lock. I opened it. It was a diary Adele had kept. Who didn't do that as a teenager? The first pages were just about her daily life — complaints about homework, arguments with Mom. Then my hands started shaking when I reached the last pages. My heart was pounding as I read what had happened THAT day. She described everything. Absolutely everything. I had no idea WHAT was happening in my sister's life. I GRABBED MY JACKET AND DROVE TO A PLACE — A PLACE ADELE HAD WRITTEN ABOUT. ⬇️ By humor is contagious

@bmstores @bmstores Happy to engage, but I would prefer this to be handled via official customer service channels or email so there is a clear record. Please can you respond to the points raised regarding reasonable adjustments under the Equality Act 2010.

@BmCustomer26679 I’ve just received a call at midnight regarding this, which isn’t appropriate. As mentioned, I’d prefer to keep communication in writing. Happy to continue via DM.

@bmstores @bmstores This was raised properly through customer services and closed with no goodwill gesture offered. Feels like the focus has been more on policy than on how a customer was actually treated.

@bmstores To be clear, this wasn’t just about access to a toilet. It was about how someone with a medical condition was spoken to in front of others. That’s what caused the embarrassment.

My daughter texted me from a party: “Mom, do we still have ice cream at home?” We don’t. That’s the code. “Ice cream” means: come get me right now. “Cookies” means: call me in five minutes with an excuse. “Nothing” means: I’m okay. She said ice cream. I didn’t ask questions. I didn’t text back. I just grabbed my keys and drove. When she got in the car she said quietly, “People started bringing out things I didn’t want to be around.” We drove home in silence. Every kid deserves a way out without having to explain themselves first.

I used to repair overhead power lines. As I was getting down off the tower, a browny-orange dog ran over closely chased by its owner. They were shouting "don't touch it, it's human." That's when I realised it was a white dog and what my mate Eddie had been doing in the bushes.
