Mama Ruth peacefully left us this afternoon at Kampala Hospital. A vigil will be held tomorrow, Thursday, 9th April, at our home in Kagulu, Buyende District, followed by her burial on Friday, 10th April. This evening, I attended the official launch of the upcoming Eye Camp in Bukedea District at Kabira Country Club, hosted by the Ruparelia Foundation, partners, and numerous friends of our late brother Rajiv Ruparelia. The camp is being organised in memory of Rajiv Ruparelia, who tragically lost his life in a car accident along Busabala Road last year. Rajiv was a staunch advocate of philanthropy, and I wish to extend my gratitude to his family for upholding his legacy. I expressed my appreciation to the Ruparelia Foundation, led by distinguished city businessman Sudhir Ruparelia, for augmenting government initiatives by bringing essential services closer to the community, thereby serving humanity. The eye camp is scheduled to occur from Friday, 27th to Sunday, 29th March 2026, at Bukedea Teaching Hospital. Its objectives include providing free eye screenings and basic treatments to at least 2,000 individuals, performing 300 cataract surgeries, conducting 50 specialised surgeries for children, and distributing spectacles to over 1,000 persons.
