Myk is going to Vibecamp
Vibecamp event created, if you’re coming to VC come participate in or at least experience a collective performance of Terry Riley’s In C. Bring an instrument, or sing, or (if I can get this working) just your phone — and see why this remarkable composition has been surprising and delighting people for 70 years. Friday from 5-6 in the barn! backend-2-6ri5.onrender.com/event/b7e116f2…

What do you mean Bryan Johnson is doing his weird science shit on his girlfriend but its probably the most comprehensive and highly funded research in women's health and he is probably going to cure endometriosis ?????
Bryan Johnson@bryan_johnson

Examining Kate’s 1% She has suspected endometriosis. This affects at least 1 in 10 women, likely more. Here she’s getting an ultrasound. Historically you needed surgery just to diagnose it (incisions are made in the abdomen). We're doing a non-invasive route. Typically women live with endometriosis for 7-10 years before being diagnosed. It’s the leading reason women aged 30 to 34 get hysterectomies (permanent surgery to entirely remove the uterus). This condition is where endometrial-like tissue starts growing outside the uterus, in ovaries, bowel, bladder, even the diaphragm. This tissue inflames, scars, and glues organs together. Our first step is to find out if @_katetolo has it. Initial measurements we’re doing: + trans vaginal ultrasound + pelvic MRI w and w/o contrast + hormonal labs All during the early part of her cycle to get the clearest picture. During her ultrasound, a slim probe, about the width of two fingers, 10-12 inches long (although only a small portion is inserted) is covered with a protective sheath and lubricant and gently inserted into the vagina (patient has to empty their bladder first). This creates real-time images of the uterus, ovaries, and surrounding pelvic structures. While inserted, the probe is turned 90 degrees to evaluate all the various structures, angles and views. There is no radiation exposure. The technician is looking for scarring, ovarian cysts, adhesions, and for organs that are fused together with tissue. This ultrasound can confirm endometriosis but it cannot rule it out. What endo does to the body: + 90% report pelvic pain + 50% report severe fatigue + 26% report infertility. However many sources cite 30 to 50 percent. + 50% experience pain during sex. + Many have pain with ovulation, bowel movements, and urination + Severe bloating called “endo belly” where the abdomen visibly distends There are a handful of theories about why endometriosis develops but the honest answer is no one is quite sure. We’ll keep you posted on her results.

@kitten_beloved My journey (back) to Catholicism was very similar, including the journey toward a redefinition of what faith means and is. I am very grateful to have encountered such clear explanation of this nuanced way of thinking about “belief”

I get asked about my conversion to Catholicism a lot but always shied away from giving a serious response, twitter just didn't seem like the right forum Today's substack essay is that serious response, enjoy adorableandharmless.com/p/instinct-and…

I’ve successfully shifted the discourse about Emily Wilson’s translation on here by academics from “It’s great” to “Ok so she takes a ton of liberties and makes many questionable choices and I don’t personally like it, but translation is hard, and I really hate RHG.” Progress.

@g_gosden What’s your theory of the ethnogenesis of these underlying groups? How long was Jutishness a discrete identity before the migration, where did they come from and how did they differentiate from the nearby tribes? How does that compare to the identity-formation of Englishness?

As evidenced by the unbridled promotion and implementation of technology at the expense of human dignity, we are truly experiencing an eclipse of the sense of what it means to be human. It is imperative to recover an understanding of the true meaning and grandeur of humanity as intended by God. It is in this sense that the challenge we currently face is not technological, but anthropological, and it is my hope that the Encyclical Letter to be published within a few days will contribute to answering this challenge.
