i’ve joined @emergentlabs as a product designer. it's been a month and i’ve gotten to work on crazy features with colossally talented people. i keep telling this to all my friends, at the pace we ship, it’s no surprise this is one of the fastest-growing startups. 🚀 funny thing is, last year, @nitprashant reached out to me for a growth role at emergent and though I really liked the idea, i kinda just wanted to continue doing design.😛 fast forward to jan this year, i randomly reached out to @mukundjha, he connected me with the team, I also gave my first in-person interview (here’s a picture, you can see the nervousness on my face :P ) and somehow everything just fell into place.

I thought learning systems programming at 20 was too niche. I thought you had to pick backend or frontend, not both. but here I am writing low-level C and shipping UIs in the same week. the lesson: stop letting other devs define what your stack should look like.

If you're looking to join a startup, you should know that you’re not there to learn. You’re there to be useful and learning is a side effect. No one is coming to train you. You've to figure it out. If you need permission to do things, you’re already too slow. If you see a problem and walk past it, you just accepted mediocrity. If you’re not embarrassed by how much you don’t know, you’re too slow. If you’re replaceable, you didn’t push hard enough. The best people make themselves impossible to ignore.

stay focused...ignore the rat race...try to build things that are cool. the rest will fall into place
