@sarah_go_green @speak2thegeek @raimonick If you mess it up, the great thing is you can just start again. I’ve had Predbat mess up my inverter (back when everything was working fine), and GE had to kick it from their end a couple of times. There’s plenty of support!
English

So for those looking at alternatives for controlling their GivEnergy battery this is Home Assistant yellow.
It scared me half to death the last time i tried to follow @speak2thegeek videos and i worried SO much i would mess things up.
The lovely @raimonick said I'm not giving myself enjoy credit and i should have a go but i do feel it's like telling your gran about online banking and she freaks out. lol😂
English

@sarah_go_green @graeme_cobb Not sure that app will give you remote access as presumably it will talk to the inverter the same way GivTCP does in HomeAssistant. HA is great but there are plenty of people who can’t or won’t be able to set it up (I’ve got friends who I suspect wont).
English

GivEnergy has given notice they intend to appoint and administrator.
Not the best news for those who have tried to do their best to be less reliant on the grid.
I've got a home assistant yellow that's scared me half to death as i started to set up so i left it but that might be the answer.
What happens to your warrant?

@sarah_go_green @OctopusEnergy And I’ve produced nothing. Next weeks major visit cannot come soon enough. Fed up!
English

Since 1st March when Trump started his war i've produced 542 kWh of electricty from my roof in Costa del Wales.
15 panels and almost the smallest invertor (converts solar into usable energy) you can have.
The average home uses 225 kWh a month of electricity.
Not even summer.
We need more rooftop solar and battery storage.
This won't just work this year it'll work for years. I'm already 3 years in and it's obvious generating energy in your roof and storing it is the way to go.

@sarah_go_green @GivEnergy Desperate bid to generate revenue from us as their sales have tanked but operational costs remain. Given I’ve had mine offline for chunks of time since August I won’t be paying them. Will consider paying HA for the rare times I need it remotely.
English

I'm not impressed with @GivEnergy. They want payment for cloud access.
When i bought my battery they said it would be "free forever."
They used that exact wording.
It's on all their documents.
It was one of the reasons i really liked their system. Now they want monthly payments for it!!
There was no confusion on this i even went to visit their offices to have a look around.
No this isn't an April fool!

@wanna_be_dj @IDKFAMWTF The ideal in those situations if you need a bit to get home is to have slow chargers in the car park you park up at. You go do appointments whilst the car is topping you up for the return. There’s a “real world database” that’ll given you better range numbers than wltp to help.
English

@wanna_be_dj @IDKFAMWTF Not the car you’re looking at but husband does about 2000 miles a month in a CUPRA born. Quite often company car schemes will chuck in a charger for free or reduced rate.
Husbands monthly “fuel bill” is about £40. He does probably 3 out of range public charges a year.
English

@IDKFAMWTF Presuming that’s the costs via home charging? What tariff and energy company? How much was the a box installation?
My company car up for renewal and the i4 e35 is an option. What’s the mileage? I average between 700-1000 miles a week driving.
English

@sarah_go_green I was very lucky that my email for re-fixing after April came in mid February before everything started. I’m fixed in til next April.
English

The Energy Price Cap is predicted to rise by 15% on the 1st July.
We are in the qualifying period where Ofgem calculates the rates and thank goodness it's summer.
It's worth at least considering a fixed even though the April Price Cap will shield those on the variable rate until the 1st July.
It's better to have considered options even if you decide to wait and hope things settle down.
Everyone's gets the governments reduction. Can you imagine if that wasn't on the cards!!!

@SortedVFR @graeme_cobb There are cheaper EV specific tariffs. We do about 44,000 miles between our two EVs. Husband (who does the higher mileage) public charges once or twice a year, he’s paying about £45pm on “fuel”, our combined car charging each month is about 1000kwh.
English

@graeme_cobb Average unit rate between home charging 23pence per kwh with Fuse Energy and supercharging as a Tesla Owner, 40pence which I only use when away from home, obviously Avg-33.3pence per kwh. That is reality. 55kwh at 33pence per kwh = £18.50 and provides a range of between 220/240m
English

Most people would like to pay a lot less at the pumps for their petrol and diesel, but not enough understanding the fuel hack an EV is.
You can pay as little as £150 per year for electricity covering 10,000 miles in an efficient EV. Or £300 per year in a significantly less efficient EV.
If, like the majority of households, you have a driveway or can access cross pavement charging, you can choose an EV friendly tariff providing cheap night-rate electricity. We used to have Economy 7 when I was a kid in the 70’s and 80’s and these EV tariffs are similar to that concept.
There are amazing deals to be had on EV’s whether leasing, buying new, pre-registered, nearly new and used. Price parity with internal combustion cars is here and I post a lot of deals each week.
And with nearly 2 million EVs now in U.K. roads, what’s holding more people back from going electric?

English

Was that really January?
Dark dull and damp but our Energy bill ( around £7 net) still brings a smile 🙂
Energy use and cost remains a positive thought, even in winter

@sarah_go_green When I saw you had one I went looking and implemented my low-cost option on home assistant!

@sarah_go_green Take a look at the hidden London tours tfl do. I’ve done a couple with a friend and they are fascinating seeing parts of the underground that are closed now.
English

It's my wedding anniversary today and I laughed at the gift he got me.
It's a TFL special edition handbag with the district line seat pattern as the strap 🤣💕🤳
I LOVE going to London. I couldn't live there but I love the sense of individuality you can have in the city.
And i do love the tube!
Now this is a great gift for a geeky wife!
(The district line goes through Paddington so it's a good choice and it's green.🫡)

@sarah_go_green @TeslaOwnersUK You’ll have fun at the lap of lights - it’s only come back this year after a few years off.
English

I am checking all the kids are ok and the weathers ok so I can make a dash tomorrow to Silverstone for the @TeslaOwnersUK light show.
I've never been to one before. Is anyone staying over or a Tesla dash there and back?

@HMRCcustomers It’s ok I’ve gotten through to someone on the link you provided and it’s been corrected.
Thank you for the link.
English

@HMRCcustomers This is a demand for payment. Zero reference to taking it back via PAYE as per the previous year.
English

@Aniseedvan But we still need to tell you what we're putting into the tax code from self assessment. If you want to check today, the phones are closed, so ask the digital assistant for an adviser and it'll put you into webchat if ones available tax.service.gov.uk/ask-hmrc/chat/…

@HMRCcustomers I’ve just been sent a balancing tax statement when (as I always do) stated on my return in May to pay back via PAYE.
