@MrDanielBuck I loved the public school in my hometown. I also know who is on their school board these days and have seen my former teachers on Facebook and wouldn't send my child.

I gotta be honest. I think conservatives are giving up on something incredibly good, American, and yes conservative if we give up on neighborhood public schools Many of these are beloved, storied institutions. They bring us together. Call me a squish, but I still love public education.

If this kind of foolishness is happening at what is supposed to be one of the most conservative schools in one of the most conservative states, can you imagine what’s happening at NYU and other liberal bastions? We constantly fought this bullshit when I served in the A&M Board of Regents, but it’s a constant battle—like pushing a large boulder up a steep hill.

A statement from Texas A&M University President Mark A. Welsh III: I learned this afternoon that key leaders in the College of Arts and Sciences approved plans to continue teaching course content that was not consistent with the course’s published description. As a result, I directed the provost to remove the dean and department head from their administrative positions, effective immediately. Our students use the published information in the course catalog to make important decisions about the courses they take in pursuit of their degrees. If we allow different course content to be taught from what is advertised, we let our students down. When it comes to our academic offerings, we must keep our word to our students and to the state of Texas.

@Beanie0597 I read it to my 2nd graders after asking higher grades if they planned on reading it and they said no. It was a great way to end my school year and my teaching career. I cried as I read it.

@MrDanielBuck I notified the parents every time. My coded email said, “During Lang. Arts we went to (nearby teacher’s rm) to watch a video with them. I also told my 3rd graders: go home and tell your parents why we evacuated. Parents took action!

Schools boards need to create a policy that requires building admin notify all parents anytime a classroom has to be evacuated for severe student behavior

This @Stanford professor, @joboaler, has led an unprecedented and devastating assault on mathematics standards in the name of equity in California. Her efforts contributed to the removal of Algebra 1 from 8th grade and helped introduce racialized math, among other injustices. Again, all done in the name of racial equity. If robbing countless Californian kids of their right to a quality education is not a crime, then I don't know what it is. "The anonymous complaint, backed by a California-based group of math-and-science focused professionals, alleges that Professor Jo Boaler—the most prominent influence on California’s K-12 math framework that nudges schools away from accelerated math pathways—has in 52 instances misrepresented supporting research she has cited in her own work in order to support her conclusions. These include the notions that taking timed tests causes math anxiety, mixing students of different academic levels boosts achievement, and students have been found to perform better when teachers don’t grade their work. This pattern of "citation misrepresentation," the complaint alleges, violates Stanford’s standards of professional conduct for faculty, showing a disregard for accuracy, and may violate the university's research integrity rules." And: "Boaler runs a center out of Stanford called Youcubed, which produces data science courses promoted in the California math framework and offers consulting services. Restorative justice! Where bullies can get away with anything, all behavioral expectations are problematized, good kids lose out on an education, fence sitters follow the crowd, and once good schools descend into chaos. Hooray education fads! Very learning, much engaging!
