Great to see the results of @delivernetzero published today 🎉 This project was hugely ambitious, bringing together 100+ cross-sector experts over 8 workshops to understand UK priorities for a #netzero transition What did we find?? 12 priority areas outlined below 👇🧵

Stanford paid 35,000 people to quit social media. This was the largest study on emotional health in history. The results were so shocking, scientists called it "comparable to therapy." Here's what happens when you break free from the algorithm: 🧵

The government blocking the reintroduction of beavers because they are a 'Tory legacy' has to be the most stupid thing I've heard in quite some time. We need many many more beavers in many many more places... theguardian.com/environment/20…

If you’ve ever wondered what I’m working on, or what @Perspecteeva is responding to, you might like this half-hour mini-documentary called *Living in the Metacrisis* which is beautifully produced by Katie Teague. youtu.be/IjOQB608ylQ?si…

Marshall Plan invocations often induce eye rolling, and deservedly so. In this case, the analogy reinforces a core opportunity: We can be generous to our partners & Pro-American in our aims In service of solving an historic global challenge. foreignaffairs.com/united-states/…

@spiderfoods There are plenty of remote, part time software development roles in the climate and green tech space, often in Founding roles. Try the climateaction.tech community and job boards like climate drift and ClimateU

My basic story is; I made many sacrifices in high school & college to pick a good career (computer science). I ignored the entire world of socializing, dating, rizz, etc., and got very good at programming. I dropped out of college, landed a $90k/year software job, quickly graduated to an $150k/year software job for the best software companies and VCs accessible at the time (Metromile, Twitch, A16z). When I turned 24, I realized I was doing nothing to make myself attractive to women (thanks /r/theredpill). Very basic things about status, frame, physical looks, charisma, holding your own in conversation, etc. I decided to change my life; I got a personal trainer, I began ignoring the "feminine consensus" about what women profess to want in a man. As I began learning those skills, I noticed my career in tech was getting worse and worse. Now that I could socialize better, it became clearer and clearer how obviously and blatantly manipulative tactics are employed by management, executives, and investors, in order to keep programmers down, miserable, in their own cage, out of serious competition for scarce leadership jobs, and to essentially resign them to permanent, worm-like bitch status. I dropped out of the technology world in 2019. I thought that I might be able to "gritty entrepreneur" my way through building a garden. I moved back to the midwest, having this vision -- now laughable, ruinously laughable in respect -- that I could somehow pivot a "pedigree" I had "earned" in Silicon Valley into... *something* useful, or forward-moving, or generative, or good. This is when I encountered the cold reality of everyday life for 90% of Americans; drudgery, submission, poverty, scarcity, addiction, et cetera et cetera. I had wildly misjudged how much fertile ground there was for a single, unaffiliated entrepreneur to get people to take charge of their own future. To learn, to listen, to adapt, to do... something. In 2020, after the pandemic, it became clear that the whole story of my life was basically kind of "fake". That I was a smart, capable, good-hearted member of some kind of society, that I had skills, knowledge, business acumen, and relationships gained over a decade of work in America's hottest economic sector. That story got replaced by a reality; I am one man, alone, with no money, no relationship prospects, little in the way of family or friends that understand me, and am in fact -- have been since I was born -- on the trajectory that 99.9% of proletariat humans have been on since the beginning of time. Constant toil, no reward, no recognition, and no respect, for fifty years, until you die.

RunningTide is shutting down and instead of blaming execution, science, etc they say "there simply isn't the demand needed to support large scale carbon removal." That's pretty ominous.
RunningTide@running_tide

Running Tide was built to heal the ocean and fix our climate for future generations. The mission will live on, but as of today Running Today has begun the process of shutting down our global operations. linkedin.com/pulse/running-…

What we know so far about Labour’s plan for Great British Energy. Only by investing collectively in the future of energy can the UK reap the benefits from it. Otherwise, the country will remain at the mercy of events out of our control. theconversation.com/what-we-know-s…

@lucyjones Thanks so much for Matresence, managed to binge the end last night. I don't think I've ever read something that induced so much anxiety and anger, yet so much love and affirmation... It's that ambivalence 😅 Thank you x
