At #PBOWEEK2026, our Community Health Promoters (CHPs) are doing more than participating—they’re demonstrating what community-led change looks like in real time. Through #TuchezeTustawi Project, CHPs are showcasing how caregivers of children (0–3 yrs) can use play to support mental health, social emotional learning and development—using homemade toys crafted from everyday materials. A plastic bottle becomes a rattle. A piece of cloth becomes a ball. A simple moment becomes connection, learning, and healing. This is what scalable impact looks like: ✔ Low-cost ✔ Locally made ✔ Delivered through trusted community systems When we equip CHPs, we don’t just deliver interventions—we unlock sustainable, community-owned solutions for early childhood development. #PBOWeek #ThrivingThroughPlay #MHPSS #EarlyYears #SEL #CommunityHealth #Amref @LEGOfoundation @NairobiCityGov @AnneGitimu @FidelinaN @SusanNyaboke5

A defining moment for maternal health in #Africa! Today, at #IMNHC2026, we officially launched the SUPREME initiative, a bold new partnership to tackle two of the leading causes of maternal deaths: pre-eclampsia and maternal anemia. Every year, tens of thousands of women die from these conditions, even though we already have the tools to prevent and treat them. The challenge is not innovation, but access. Supported by @UNITAID and co-implemented with @CHAI_health, SUPREME brings together a powerful consortium, including @Jhpiego, @NGOSolthis, @MarktAccessAfri, @WACIHealth, @Auruminstitute, and @ConceptFNDN, to change this reality across Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Senegal, and Tanzania. What makes SUPREME different is its end-to-end approach, addressing the full product access pathway, from innovation and market shaping to service delivery and community uptake. Through its dual model, 🔹 SUPREME SECURE – strengthening supply, markets, and product availability 🔹 SUPREME LIFELINES – ensuring the right care reaches women at the point of need, the initiative bridges the gap between #innovation and real impact among underserved communities. At Amref Health Africa, we are proud to lead the LIFELINES component, working with governments, health workers, and communities to embed these solutions into strong, responsive antenatal care systems. Because saving lives is not just about having the right tools. It’s about ensuring they are accessible, trusted, and delivered at scale. By 2029, this initiative aims to create the conditions needed to drive lasting reductions in maternal and neonatal mortality. 👇Explore Amref’s full participation at IMNHC 2026, and learn more about the programme: 🔗newsroom.amref.org/advancing-mate… #SUPREME #MaternalHealth

𝐌𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐭 𝐡𝐨𝐦𝐞. In many communities, decisions about #FGM are made within families, not by outsiders. That’s why @Amref_Kenya developed #HomesteadDialogues (enkang dialogues): safe, structured spaces where families come together, speak openly, and commit as a group to #endFGM. This is community-led change, from the inside out. Join our upcoming webinar on 24th March to see how this approach is shifting deep-rooted social norms and empowering communities to lead the change. #AmrefMaternalMondays Maternal and newborn outcomes are improving in Kenyan counties. County data from 2024–2025 shows encouraging progress, with maternal mortality ratios declining in counties such as Kiambu (55.25 → 53.72), Meru (76.01 → 68.56) and Bungoma (95.24 → 68.13). At the same time, neonatal deaths have decreased in Kilifi (12.87 → 10.85), Nyeri (10.79 → 8.72) and Meru (8.61 → 7.88), while stillbirth rates have also declined across counties including Kiambu, Nyeri and Meru. Through partnerships with the national government, county governments and partners, @Amref_Kenya's Maternal and Newborn Health Big Bet is supporting efforts to reduce Kenya’s maternal mortality ratio from 355 to below 70 deaths per 100,000 live births, and neonatal mortality from 21 to under 12 deaths per 1,000 live births by 2030. Investing in quality maternal care saves lives. Partner with us to accelerate progress for every mother and every newborn. #MaternalHealth #NewbornHealth #Kenya #HealthSystems #SparkingChangeSavingLives @MPESA_FDN @SafaricomFDN @KilifiCountyGov @KiambuCountyGov @Meru_county @County19Nyeri @BungomaCountyKe

Health. Nutrition. Education. Finance. Social protection. We built silos. Children paid the price. At #PHCCongress2026, we’re done with fragmentation. “From Survival to Thriving” convenes Treasury, SHA, counties, and global partners to answer: How do we structurally embed early childhood across ALL sectors? @NyamiraCountyG and @NairobiCityGov are showing it’s possible. Digital Health Agency is building infrastructure. KMTC is preparing the workforce. The pieces exist. What we need is coordination. Leadership isn’t owning the agenda. It’s aligning it. The future of Primary Health Care isn’t about surviving the next public health threat. It’s about building systems that help every human thrive from day one. At #PHCCongress2026, we’re asking a disruptive question: What if the first 1,000 days were the foundation of PHC redesign? Not an add-on. Not a vertical program. The very architecture of resilient health systems. Resilience doesn’t begin in crisis response. It begins at children’s surviving and thriving in their early years . Because a health system that fails children in their earliest moments fails its most basic test.
