I’m so upset… My Kindle is fifteen years old. It still works fine, and I want no other. I read a lot, and this is the only e-reader that doesn’t hurt my eyes. None of the new models have a screen that so perfectly mimics paper. And now Amazon is forcing me to buy a new one. 😡 I don’t need a touchscreen or sound, and I definitely don’t want adverts! 🤬 The timing couldn’t be worse either… I can’t afford it right now. ☹️ I guess I won’t be buying more ebooks for a while... I’ll just have to read the ones I already have.

Having four children is very chic. Higher end of normal. Not trad sourdough territory. Big enough so kids can pick btwn siblings, not so big they get lost in the crowd. Can easily imagine a highly educated woman starting in her late 20s or 30s having four children.

I could not have asked for a more damning indictment of civic nationalism than watching a guy named "Shadi Hamid" tell Americans that what it really means to be an American is to allow for hordes of hostile foreigners to pour into our country and essentially colonize it with cultures, beliefs, and worldviews that are at odds with the American way of life.
No "minority community" on earth has a "right" to come to my country to begin with, let alone displace its existing culture with one of their own.
We do not have to accommodate you people, and every time we have tried, it's only been used to dissolve this country.

@niehrehtse Book 5 Harry is my favorite Harry. He gets through one of the toughest years of his life trying to be strong and when the final blow falls, he finally explodes and we get so much insight. He's not whiney, he's HURT. But he makes it through and comes out stronger.

Just thinking about how in Order of the Phoenix, Harry takes Occlumency with Snape under the guise of "Remedial Potions", then the next year he seemingly aces Potions. No wonder none of the other students questioned it! To them, he was doing double Potions the year before!

My elderly parents who live in a big “sanctuary city” in the Mountain West have had their car insurance quadruple. I pay $600 a year to register their car while I watch shitwagons with giant VENEZUELA decals drive by with no license plate. Their neighbors now exclusively speak foreign languages. My local schools are now 60% foreign kids up from 20% pre 2020. Newcomers get free healthcare, childcare, help with housing and food. All run by taxpayer funded corrupt NGOs to allow state politicians to pay their family members.
If I want Mass from a Priest who speaks my language I can no longer get this in my town, which is a major tourist ski town in the mountains, I have to drive 2 hours. I haven’t heard English at the local hardware store since 2020.
I’ve had students laid off from DOGE from land management agencies who have no healthcare for their new babies, while they see signs in Spanish asking newcomers if they need help with their bill. This list could be 10,000 words long and I wouldn’t get to all the ways I personally feel a loss of “dignidad”, but honestly the loss of dignity is most pronounced for zoomers and old people who haven’t been completely brain wiped by MSNBC.
I’m still well enough to hide out from all the destruction you goblins have wrought up on my mountain.
