It's worth recapping just how many state laws Virginia Democrats violated in order to actually do this referendum.
They kept a special session open for two years, pushed it through with early voting already underway in last year's governor's race, and failed to publish it three months before an election.
They wrote an extremely misleading ballot question, also in violation of the law, that claimed creating a 10D-1R map was a "temporary measure" to "restore fairness," in order to influence a particular result.
And yet, a referendum passing by less than 5 points will allow them to create a 10D-1R map in a state that voted for Kamala by 6 points.
If only Republicans would use the power they gain to ruthlessly govern instead of lecturing us about 'norms and procedures.'

Drive around any US city and you'll see housing projects in the heart of town, squalid ghettos mere blocks away from the most expensive historic homes and high end businesses. That's because government uses your tax dollars to subsidize the maintenance of a criminal underclass in zip codes they could otherwise never afford, where they have no business living. Why are urban crime rates so high? Why are urban schools so bad? Why don't more young families live downtown? Section 8 housing is the answer. If we've got to give these people UBI (we don't) we could at least have the decency and practical good sense to build them their own little towns somewhere outside the heart of the city. They don't have some right to the most valuable tracts of land just because their grandmothers also grew up in that same project. They don't own the land but are recipients of public largesse in no position to argue. Bulldoze the projects, relocate their inhabitants, and sell the land for private development or build public parks and you could fix the cities overnight while increasing the tax base. Urban retardation (literal slowing, holding back) is always and everywhere a choice apparently no one is brave enough to stop making.

As a reminder:
- The PAC-3 MSE is optimized for use with the US Army's system. So, it needs to be modified, tested, verified, and validated with the Aegis Weapon System.
- PAC-3 MSE and LM have done preliminary testing on incorporating into the VLS. But it also has to be modified, tested, verified, and validated with the Aegis Combat System and the VLS.
- The PAC-3 MSE threat set is not the same as the threat set for an Aegis equipped ship. So, it needs to be modified, tested, verified, and validated with the Aegis Weapon System against a new set of design and non-design threats plus other factors.
- The PAC-3 is optimized for use in a wholly different environment than an Aegis equipped ship. So, it needs to be modified, tested, verified, and validated with the Aegis Weapon System and in a new environment with sea state, humidity, salt, multi-path effects, and other factors.
