The euthanasia committee rejected an amendment to ensure people being killed by the state have “met with a palliative care specialist for the purposes of being informed about the medical and care support options." This is not about choice; it is about cost-cutting. Evil.

🧵While much of the burgeoning interest in oncological repurposing is related to a few very high profile candidates, such as aspirin or metformin, there is a wide range of non-cancer drugs which have some level of anticancer activity @AnticancerOrgUK ecancer.org/en/journal/art…

Proud to have contributed to this article. A must read for policymakers, as this explains why the revision of the EU pharmaceutical legislation is essential for #drugrepurposing, an innovative strategy to find new treatments. #anticancerfund @remedi4all @AnticancerOrgUK

Will the EU accept a simple tweak to drug regulations to speed up new options, particularly for #rarediseases, by giving not-for-profit bodies the right to apply for an existing drug to have its label extended to treat another indication? cancerworld.net/drug-repurposi… #repurposing

A 100-year-old drug might be a promising treatment for autism spectrum disorder! A small clinical trial recently revealed that Suramin, a drug originally developed for African sleeping sickness, seems to improve communication skills and social behaviors in individuals with autism. While the role of medications in treating autism spectrum disorder can be a complex and multifaceted topic we were struck by the evidence suggesting that those who received Suramin experienced significant improvements in their verbal communication skills. The idea of helping children find their voice is incredibly powerful. At @EveryCure, we are dedicated to exploring opportunities like Suramin for autism spectrum disorder, as well as other drug-disease matches, to identify the most promising treatments to move forward. #MedTwitter
