The first half of season 1 skips the leg work to earn a relationship I can be invested in. What's worse is the reason for this is because the writer was too lazy to fix it.

@_Floura_ No it's a pretty mediocre show. It has good moments and all, but the story is 100% sub-par. It's a cool idea that doesn't get explored how it should. Its not garbage, but it's not that great either. It's a good intro to anime, though, I think.
