Rescuing people at sea doesn’t mean our borders are “wide open”. It means UK Border Force is fulfilling its duty to rescue people at sea. And when you suggest the Refugee Convention is “rewritten”, how do you propose the UK government rewrites an international convention?

Perhaps we should no longer pigeon hole policies to certain political parties or Left/Right or Centre. Policies are simply a reflection of what is needed and required to get our country moving forward. It is fine having policies to address this without having to pin them against any ideology. The only ideology I want is to do what is right for the country at any given point in time based on our current and medium term needs. I don’t care if they are historically the ideology of the left or the right, just get on with it.
