Larry, the Chief Mouser to the Cabinet Office at 10 Downing Street, was adopted from Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in 2011. He has just turned 19 and has already outlasted six Prime Ministers. Yesterday we could see the photographer of President Karol Nawrocki tripping over Larry after the meeting with Keir Starmer. Happy Birthday! 📷Damian Burzykowski

@laugh1066 @Stormymaryann @MRolly19 So they've done it to Pierre before. Interesting. Are there other leaders/riding that they've done this? Do they ever do it to leaders on the Liberal side, i wonder?

Poilievre’s riding is really bizarre. He represents Carleton for 20 years and all of a sudden when he’s running for PM he loses? It’s really fishy to me.

Poilievre saying he would “override the charter” was probably something he shouldn’t have said out loud.

Technical question for Babylonianists: when I use the date conversion tool in MesoCalc (#dates" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">baptiste.meles.free.fr/site/mesocalc.…), I can no longer select the day. Is it just me?

What people fear about entering Russia is already the new normal in the USA. My colleague in PolSci entered the USA from Europe recently to attend ISA Convention. Her colleagues, all Germans, were forced to open their laptops and show content of their research presentations. 1/

Why would I denounce it? I'm in support of a mutually acceptable, non-militaristic incorporation of Canada as the 51st state. The thing is what problem would you have with it? Do you now understand our gov structure? As a state Canada would have their own constitution and do as it pleases. Canadians would have less taxes, immediately, have access the the US banking system, adopt the world reserve currency, have more protections on free speech than what it currently has, a passport that I believe has more travel potential (I could be wrong), commerce would be more fluid and beneficial, full access to US markets, housing issues would likely be alleviated because more people could flow inland freely and buy property, and Canada wouldn't need to pay for military protection, which y'all haven't devoted funding to your military in quite some time. Yeah, you wouldn't be your own country but it's not like you would lose sovereignty under our framework. The only people that want to make the USA homogenous are the liberals that want to expand the federal government but the truth is that we are a constitutional republic with very strong local governments. Actually, your cities would probably gain more power over their own cities within the state of Canada. Again hypothetical but I don't see why there can't be an honest debate around the pros and cons. Oh you are worried about your healthcare, well that doesn't have to stop.. it can be a state-run program. Nothing says you couldn't do that.

Americans need to denounce this 51st state crap. It's too quiet. Your closest ally, Canada, is watching closely. And we are noticing that not enough of you are speaking up.

Nicholas Soames, a peer and grandson of Winston Churchill speaking to a Republicans Abroad witness at the Lords International Relations select committee today. "It is impossible in a way to take President Trump seriously. How is it possible that America could have voted at the UN alongside Russia, Syria, the Central African Republic, North Korea and Belarus? How is that possible ? "I really do think it is extraordinary the perversion of the so-called Republican Party that can genuinely think Putin was not the aggressor in the Ukraine, and then expect the world to believe it, and sees the repulsive defenestration of Zelenskyy in public as part of a television show. It all creates a really bad impression. I worked in the Senate for 2 and a half years. I love America, but it is not an America I know". He then challenged Trump’s claim that the EU was set up to "screw America" explaining “Without America the European Union would not have been created. It is very worrying to me America’s policy is being driven by a deep and profound misunderstanding of the truth. The President hasn't a clue".
