I’ve been using @AppStanceHQ. It gives you ROAS by day and also allows you to optimize bids by keyword based on ROAS. Fantastic product, but head scratcher that Apple doesn’t allow it. I assume they just want to sell all inventory and don’t want their customers think too hard about their actual returns…

@4bh1nav CPPs now support deep links, you can try using a dummy CPP just for meta ads and reconcile in routing logic and show paywall based on that.

We're rebuilding ASO technology for iOS from scratch with no outdated workflows, just solutions built for app developers and companies that actually make a difference. What's needed from your end? Not much - just add your app, analyze metrics/performance, watch features roll in, deal with the occasional bugs. No data sharing or App Store Connect integration needed. Reply with you iOS app link to this post and I'll DM you instructions.

If the app in internationally available, we see this order of priority works great for most apps for organic visibility-> Spanish (for usa, Spain and Latin America), French, German, Portuguese (for Brazil and Portugal), Japanese, Korean, Arabic, traditional Chinese etc., if there’s no time, adding Spanish to your list is a good idea

@ivesparrowai Bad take, in second case, the side project is a tangible asset that can be sold to someone else. And then try for a job, you can’t sell the job that you just got fired from.

By the way, working a full-time job with a $10k net salary is actually better than being self-employed with a side project bringing in $10k. In the first case, even if you get fired, you can find another job. In the second case – you have a project that might stop making money, and you won’t be able to either find a job with the same income or build another project that earns that much.
Ivan Sparrow@ivesparrowai

Unpopular opinion: an app making $10k/month with 99% margin is worse than one making $30k/month with 33% margin. Because in the second case, you’ve learned how to run paid ads and built a repeatable system. That’s much closer to a real business – one that doesn’t depend on how many TikTok videos you’ve posted in the last month.

@kadikraman @KevinQuisquater The benefit to deploy app to App Store is for distribution, otherwise why not just create a website and deal with seo lottery? Cutting off millions of devices from that distribution because of the “questionable choices” - mainly screenshots and minor code, not sure a good idea.

When you publish your app to the App Store with iPad support, you can't ever NOT support iPad in future versions of that app. Talk about having to live with your questionable choices

@Thomasbcn @herreraevel New iPhones cycle could be resulting in significant no of users reevaluating. And new iOS updates , if their storage is full, delete unused apps - Apple asks to cancel subscription if there’s a delete.

Anyone else experiencing bulk subscription cancellations? Just heard from a $15M MRR portfolio company. It's affecting old subscribers in a weird way

@alpennec A lot of people use older iPhones, cheaper models etc., willingness to pay is also cultural thing for tier-2 and tier-3 countries. Apple’s default base currency conversion could mean that the actual subscription price can also increase depending on the countries currency trend.

I don’t get app price localization for Apple platforms and the hype around it. We’re not talking about a Big Mac at McDonald’s, we’re talking about expensive devices not everyone can purchase. What am I missing? 🤔 PS: from someone who built an internal tool for that 🙃
Axel Le Pennec@alpennec

@designerants Given the starting price of an iPhone 17 in Brazil (R$ 7,999 = 1,505 USD), I think people can afford these kind of subscriptions. The iPhone is even more expensive in Brazil than in Europe for example if converted to USD (1,135 USD).

@i_Kisliy @ivesparrowai No worries. Just to clarify, wasn't talking about add-on thing, as long as you have Adapty pro, our platform converts the data as an MMP would with webhooks, which allows our algorithm to focus spend on revenue generating keywords.

In September, we secured a credit line from Apple Ads and took a loan from a credit provider. That means it’s time to scale ad spend, but without wasting money. Here’s what’s been done so far: - completely rebuilt the entire Apple Ads campaign structure - created around 188 campaigns – 120 paused, 68 active - discovered several small but highly promising countries where even broad match campaigns perform well - spent $25K, nearly doubled the daily budget - thousands of keywords are waiting to test - during testing, performance dropped by about 2x, but has now stabilized to 70% of target levels - set up a SplitMetrics account (currently using the demo before switching to the paid plan) - created 9 types of automated rules – and there’s still room for more automation After four months of flat results, revenue is finally growing again, and this week will hit a record for new subscribers (over the past year)

Some observations: 1) Big mistake: Do not combine the US with any country, you'll be overpaying for other countries and underpaying for US downloads. 2) Do not set an end date for campaigns, just pause them when you want them to stop. 3) In the absence of subscriptions, optimize for CPA. TTR/CR will follow naturally. 4) Make sure Search match is off for keyword-based ad groups. 5) I think the pianorun screenshots need some love, currently there are only 3 screenshots. The subtitle seems a bit not optimized. 6) Run discovery campaigns to escape the high competition, but frequent bid optimization is required.

App Store Ads cost so far: $3,847.59 Most of that was wasted due to my learning curve (completely new to doing this) I think cost can easily be reduced with more understanding Launch campaign was a "capture all" campaign with exact match keywords for visibility and keywords to target games Ended splitting this into 2 seperate campaigns: VISIBILITY BOOST (exact match keywords) And a KEYWORDS campaign that I'm playing around with 2 days ago I reduced removed keywords with low TTR (impression → installation) to see impact. They were getting the most installs due to sheer volume and costing a lot in the process. I think the plan is becoming clear: focus on TTR. If the objective is to feed the algorithm app store data, then I want to put my best foot forward. Focus on keywords that get bets impression → installation %.

Most people won’t rate, and Apple may even discard ratings that are under their certain thresholds. If a user use core feature and understand the value of the app, they are more likely to rate. Usually in firebase , you can use anonymous authentication and later link it. So try that flow in your app. You can skip it if the drop off < 20%

@SearchAds_SAO Thanks! 1. You don’t recommend rating during onboarding? 2. I’m only building on Apple platforms, and using CloudKit. So account would be a proxy for “email” so I could do some marketing. How would you do that?

There’s probably no one-size-fits-all answer, but for a mobile app, what’s the recommended order of: 🙋🏻 Onboarding steps (survey/questions for personalization) 🪪 Account creation/authentication 💰 Paywall

Im using @MobileAction to figure out ASO today. These ASO tools are bloody expensive. I may only use it once in a blue moon so paying $80/month makes no sense.

@claytonlz It means that campaigns haven’t been setup properly and you have “search match “ enabled for keywords based campaigns which is a no-no or you are using broad keywords .

Current experience with Apple App Store Ads... "You spent $12.00 on this ad group" Oh cool, I wonder which keywords are working. "You've spent $0.00 on your keywords" 🤔 "Reporting is not in real time and may not reflect data received in the last three hours." 😐
