@AppalacheGlobal @FinanceJack44 I don't think you'll see the buyback double or anything, with these types of great businesses with hired CEOs they rarely make big moves that could get them fired.

$MA has one of the cleanest shares outstanding charts out there. Every year for the past decade they have reduced shares outstanding at least 1%. This sort of consistency tell you a lot about the company. They have immense profitability, a strong moat to protect it, an elite business model that requires little reinvestment, and management that is aligned with shareholders. Your average company doesn't have all these attributes, and naturally cannot return cash as much or as consistently as an elite compounder like Mastercard.

@AppalacheGlobal I think the $32 million includes PEMS. That line on the cash flow statement is the line/amount that matches the Asseco investment from Q1 a year ago

$CSU.TO -> believe that was record deployment for a Q1 .. $809 million total consideration + $32 million in other investments

@TidefallCapital @FinanceJack44 100%. For what its worth, last Q was the first time in a long time that Sachin talks about accelerating the buyback based on intrinsic value

I guess this is the one day a week my portfolio works. They usually throw a teaser in there just to get your hopes up before dropping the hammer again.

@marc_slans Apple and Meta actually pretty good diversifiers vs capex trade IMO, especially Meta at this price

You’d think a name like $META would benefit from the inevitable semiconductor rout, but it probably won’t play out like that. Tech will probably just get sold off indiscriminately. Would be silly, I know, but isn’t that likely?

@compoundpapi And Brennan from Long Path Partners has a history of taking portfolio companies private if things don’t work out in public markets - wouldn’t be surprised it it happens here too

what are thoughts on $BRO here? Like a lot of what I see. Dislike the share count dilution over time and the large recent acquisition using stock. Just starting my research here, so no real opinion yet.

@compoundpapi I think it’s quite murky papi… Pretty binary outcomes based on regulators who likely dont even know themselves which way they will go

@LOGOinvestor Hey Eric - would have sent a direct message but seems like that's blocked on your end. I don't think the AI behind this works very well. Plenty of discrepancies, notably on TCI below (only owns MSFT, V and GOOGL in the group)

Well said. Reminds me of when $BAM $BN would get hammered by daily headlines of property defaults in 2022-2023. Market dramatically over reacted to the extent of the problem and you had people on here calling it an accounting fraud. Check out this Tom Gober website. His entire personality and career is abt this 1 crusade. Website is like a promotional newsletter: “seen on Yahoo! Finance and CNBC!” Subscribe to read, etc. Yes, the fixed annuity companies are not run as conservatively as the legacy nonprofit mutual life insurance companies were 30 years ago. $BRK was aggressive for investing in stocks and not parking float in treasuries like $PGR. Doesn’t mean it’s dumb or wrong or going to blow up.

A technical podcast from @realsteveeisman. A must watch if you are interested in PE or Life Insurance. Tom Gober lays out the playbook for a future blow up of the industry via hidden leverage to offshore captive reinsurers. Clip links to 2 minute summary. youtu.be/a7MM0UnQ4o4?si…

Might be a rumor, but probably not. Where there is smoke, there is fire. $META, yes does have an absolutely incredible business that will somewhat accel due to AI But pretending like Zuck isn’t just off on another capital destruction quest is ignorant imo
