it’s so crazy that korea just got split in half, and half the country modernized and the other half fell under the rule of a totalitarian dictatorship that’s so incompetent that it let 5% of the population starve to death. in the present day you can be executed in the street for listening to a single k-pop song and then they’ll throw 3 generations of your family into a labor camp to be worked to death. something really eerie about seeing both timelines play out for one country. counterfactuals are so rarely knowable.

BREAKING: Spanish anti-corruption police raid the headquarters of PM Pedro Sánchez’s socialist PSOE party, The agents were sent to secure evidence for an ongoing probe into the alleged illegal financing of the country’s ruling party. The raid comes just days after the socialist former PM José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero was indicted on corruption charges linked to the Venezuelan regime. He is currently awaiting a verdict following his trial for allegedly receiving kickbacks on public contracts for medical protective equipment during the pandemic. - Santos Cerdán (Former Right-Hand Man & Party Secretary): One of Sánchez’s closest political associates and former second-highest-ranking PSOE official is under investigation for allegedly handling over €600,000 in illegal payments related to public infrastructure procurements. - Koldo García (Former Advisor): A former close aide to Ábalos who is under criminal prosecution for serving as the central intermediary in the pandemic-era public contract kickback ring. The scandals have grown so big that there is now talk about the government having to resign and hold snap elections later this year.
