On the monument near Stepanakert depicting tatik-papik, the grandmother and grandfather of Artsakh, there is the line,“We Are Our Mountains.”This story is not over. We will meet again tatik and papik, among those mountains.

There is a big difference between Diplomacy and reality on the ground. A cold logic of the state and a survival issue for the people.

Dear friends and colleagues, below is my article inspired by Gramsci's and Arendt's political philosophies titled ""Monsters of “Global Uncertainty”: Gramsci and Arendt on a World Crisis." In this article, I draw parallels between the current status of the global order and the inter-war period of 1918-1939, and argue that in times of "Global Uncertainties," we usually witness violence, crime, and genocide due to great-power competition. Meanwhile, the erosion of the liberal international system is creating a power vacuum, and a new order is being shaped. Unfortunately, when the central authority fragments, norms lose their binding force, and coercion replaces consent, producing a lawless and unstable environment. Moreover, normative guidelines are being weakened before being replaced by new ones. In my reflections, I took cases from Nagorno-Karabakh, to Gaza, and south Lebanon. I conclude that whether this monstrous period deepens authoritarianism and fragments regionalism or creates a new hegemonic consensus - renewing commitment to international laws and multilateral institutions - depends on the immunity of liberal institutions and norms against revisionism and great power rivalry. #GlobalCrisis #politicalphilosophy #globalorder #genocides #NeverAgain #Gramsci #HannaArendt #NagornoKarabakh #Gaza #Lebanon #internationallaw

🇱🇧 🇦🇲 “As an Armenian, watching the systematic erasure of South Lebanon feels like a recurring nightmare that the world refuses to wake up from… It’s living again the hollow silence that met our own ancestors in 1915.”

My colleague @Arazbedros has written a very interesting article on how Armenians, given what they suffered in the past, are viewing the situation in south Lebanon. I urge you to subscribe to her Substack. arazbedross.substack.com/p/never-again-…

Armenians of Lebanon are now witnessing another Red Flag, another ethnic cleansing.
As the smoke rises over southern Lebanon entire communities are scrubbed from the map showing a clear intention of ethnic and religious cleansing.

They enriched Beirut's charm — Avedissian, Aftimos, Altounian & Abdelnour, architects of the Ottoman & Mandate eras. Their works endure, yet their names are fading. Beirut should honor them with plaques on their works & streets named after them.

Beirut’s Forgotten Architects
We walk past Beirut’s iconic buildings every day—but do we know who designed them?
Architects like Avedissian, Aftimus, Altounian, Abdelnour, from the Ottoman and Mandate era, are mostly forgotten. Their names aren’t on the walls, no plaques honor them.
Even when their work survives, their names, legacy, and reputation barely do.
This knowledge shouldn’t be reserved for architecture students; plaques and public recognition could make them part of every Lebanese’s cultural memory.

Is a New Lebanon War Imminent? While that’s the conventional wisdom, there are reasons to assume things may not be so simple.

Are Lebanese women treated fairly by Lebanon's labor laws? @Ghidatay argues that, while the situation can be far worse, especially for women who have given birth, there is certainly room for improvement and alignment with ILO standards, at Diwan: carnegieendowment.org/middle-east/di…
