At a landmark Holocaust education conference in Morocco organized by the @OfficialMimouna, and cosponsored by AJC, educators from across the Arab world gathered in an effort to confront hatred.
@AriMGordon, AJC Director of Muslim-Jewish Relations, said the strongest message to emerge from the gathering was “hope."
Initiatives like this help challenge denial, counter antisemitism, and foster a shared understanding of the consequences of hate.

It was a gift to be a part of this program. With scholars and activists of diverse faiths from across the Muslim world and U.S. working together on combatting hate and fostering cooperation, it truly a “world as it could be” experience.

Last week in Morocco, something powerful happened. Educators, practitioners, and civic leaders from across the MENA region came together for a conference centered on Holocaust education, memory, and confronting hatred together. Among those participating was Dr. Ari Gordon, AJC Director of Muslim-Jewish Relations. Funded in part by the @ClaimsCon, the program—organized by AJC, @AmericanSephard, and @OfficialMimouna —wasn’t just another event. It created a space to move beyond the silence and denial that is far too prevalent in our world. Amidst regional war, intergroup division, and rampant misinformation we promote critical thinking and human dignity through partnership. Because how we remember the past shapes how we build the future.

Pluralism, because while the Qur'an gave a new qibla (prayer of direction) to Muslims, it noted "each has a qibla," affirming Judaism & Christianity.
Then "ahl al-qibla" became an umbrella term in early Islam, healing sectarianism.

It’s a relic of the “Moorish” trend among Western Jews, which embraced Judaism’s “Oriental” roots and viewed Islam as a sister religion.

Every Muslim, and every person of conscious, should condemn the senseless killing of Jewish Australians. This has nothing to do with politics and could not be justified by any reason. Killing one innocent life is equal to killing the whole humanity. There should be no place for antisemitism within our communities.

At a time when interfaith relations are under their greatest strain of the 21st century, we were heartened to see Muslims and Jews in the UK 🇬🇧 sign the Drumlanrig Accord and present it to @KingCharles earlier this month.
Their commitment to reconciliation amidst rising antisemitism and anti-Muslim sentiment—and investment in a shared future—are inspiring and a model for Muslims and Jews around the world.
