@VeryBergeron @BorasWife_ @turtleisl_girl And for the record I am white. I unlike you genuinely want this insanity to end. You just want to delay it to get the same thing a generation later. Whiteness -> Cosmopolitan London Style Multiculturalism.

@VeryBergeron @BorasWife_ @turtleisl_girl Manifest Destiny has turned on the average white ameircan. Reconciling indigenity and our mistakes is the only way we can save ourselves. Embracing this faux “whiteness” will lead to more multiculturalism and we’ll be a deracinated economic zone for all time.

@valdombre @Berge9531Brian From a Canadian perspective making your dialect more French isn’t a bad idea, Quebec and all.

@GNCL1139 But yes food like this depends on their community, because their community funds the schools. It isn’t an umbrella or some unified funding structure. It’s local, and rich people leave ghetto areas to the suburbs. That food is likely ghetto.

@GNCL1139 Depends on the school. There is no unified school system, it’s usually funded by the local community. Schools like that tend to be poorer. But yeah American school food is notoriously disgusting; has been for decades. It’s gotten healthier recently if anything.

@NeoliberalAkiho I am not canadian, but I assume that the canadians who do this conceptualize canada as a european nation, not an amerindian one, and thus they view these customs as foreign.

@LucaR2005 @NeoliberalAkiho Indigenous is also Americanism. It’s either Rez “Indian” or the tribe itself that isn’t.

@NeoliberalAkiho Americans who make fun of their native culture are dumb as a brick, because their culture is more foundational in the U.S. than even native culture is in Canada

@RobboLaw Wanting American empire to collapse (every chattering class since 1945), and American empire collapsing are two different things. I say this as someone who loathes it unlike you. The most likely thing the American empire is gonna do is see a collapse in the republic.

Yet 20 years later the only thing that has changed is that all the potential rivals are weaker. Trump's insanity obscures this, but the first thing everybody in the world is going to do after he's gone is band together to peacefully crush Chinese exports.

Reading today Giovanni Arrighi's 2-part essay "Hegemony unravelling" (published in 2005), which is on the "the terminal crisis of US hegemony" precipitated by the Iraq invasion, is a surreal experience
