Some statements by @anthonynoto that concerned me in the @basispointpod episode yesterday.
- When discussing price to tangible book, discussing how $SOFI shouldn't trade at 2x or less and alluding to 5-6x when matched against what $AXP peaks at.
- Similarly, likening them to $JPM price to book which yes, is insanely expensive since 2023 recovery, now around 2.8x, but you we can't really compare any bank to them in terms of size, scale, and safety. $SOFI I believe is around 2.25-2.3x right now.
- Being 2nd best (or less) at everything and being #1 at nothing. I appreciate they have irons in the fire but they need to focus on becoming #1 at something, before trying to be #1 at everything at same time. Great if they can do that but it rarely goes that way.
- As I had joked for years, they are largely a student loan refi operation that was masquerading as an all-in-one financial institution. This was admittedly harsh and is no longer accurate, though it is a meaningful slice.
- Sofi credit card not competitive or marketed properly. Seriously they should have just asked me how to do this. Doubt you can find a one-man business responsible for more organic credit card conversions for $JPM, $C, $COF, $AXP, $BAC than my track record pre-retirement.

Trump keeps saying Iran is begging for a deal, but terms aren't good enough.
In similar way, @amitisinvesting wants ceasefire, but it doesn't sound very sincere and apologetic.
So not only am I NOT accepting a truce, I will be escalating big time.
Whether it's $ASTS, $PLTR, $RKLB, $SOFI, or another stock we're both buying, I'm going to hit him so hard and so fast, he won't know what's coming.
I will stop at nothing short of complete obliteration.

@amitisinvesting @spacanpanman I’m not saying that some space stocks are “bad”, I just though that if u want a new shine spaceX u would sell ur space stocks to get some liquidity for ipo, no ?
English

spacex is essentially showing wall street the tam for the space industry
the "bad space" stocks are subjective based on why you think they are inferior, the issue with spacex is valuation
overall, the increase in valuation on spacex could be a tailwind for the highest quality space names that may have better alpha than a company at 2t, if you can even get it at 2t

joined space mob at $86 a few weeks ago and happy I joined but people gave @spacanpanman way too much hate because the stock fell from $85 to $60
as if growth stocks don’t experience…oh I don’t know…10-20% swings normally
originally bought it as a trade before the Blue Origin launch a few weeks ago because of @AceCrouton (who just hit $1M port!) but am deciding to continue holding as we see the SpaceX IPO coming up soon which should be a catalyst (and to an extent has been already) for space names
just really hated to see Anpanman getting that much hate because a growth stock went down…we all just have to be nicer humans 😆
back to $100 for Sp🅰️ceMob 🚀

Everyone talking about Applied Materials $AMAT earnings after bell.
I don’t care despite $440k in stock. Won’t even look at earnings today.
The time to buy this, $LRCX, $ASML, $KLAC and similar permanent hold chip stocks is when no one cares about them.
You don’t buy them when they’re cared about.

The fact that people have sold $HOOD stock on the $100M expense tied to the Trump accounts this year is totally illogical.
It should go up on that news, not down.
Around 14 million Trump Accounts are projected in total and Robinhood will be servicing 100% of them.
Do you have any idea how long or how much it would cost to acquire 14 million new brokerage customers?
These are the current number of accounts at major US brokers:
Fidelity = 57 million
Vanguard = 50+
Charles Schwab $SCHW = 39.1
Robinhood $HOOD = 27.4
Interactive Brokers $IBKR = 4.8
Your rebuttal may be that up to 14 mil Trump accounts seeded with just $1k are not comparable to higher net worth IBKR accounts, which is true.
Though consider if just 5-10% of those 14 mil become "real" accounts over time.
$IBKR has almost a $140B market cap with just 4.8 mil accounts. $HOOD at $69.5B despite having over 5x the number of accounts.
However as we all know, the Robinhood accounts skew very young and immature. As time goes on, that changes. Like a fine aged wine, more valuable with time.

Comment on the Japanese Yen
It helps to have institutional memory
The last major intervention by Central Banks to prop up foreign currency units against the USD was in Sep 1985 -- it was the Plaza Accord. I remember it well. I was trading the Yen back then.
This was the bottom of Yen -- has not been back there since $JPY
The announcement created huge up gaps that remain unfilled (so much for fading gaps -- fading gaps has always been a dumb idea in my mind
I bot the gap up as a H&S bottom was completed. There were huge gaps in all currencies. CHF gapped up by more than 200 points. I am interested in being long Yen
