Armenians know actual living Georgians more than vice versa, probably because they’ve been coming to the Georgian seaside a lot in recent decades, or originate from Georgia / have ethnic Armenian relatives in Georgia. But they are mostly unaware of the gravity of situation in Georgia. The amount of “it’s just the same here” responses I get makes me sad. Then, when I proceed to describe the full depth, I get disbelief in response, which is sad but valid: “We used to look up to you!” Subsequent reaction is usually a deep surprise and amused chuckle when I say that now many Georgians look up to Armenia’s development and wish we had the Pashinyan government.
