was at a cpg roundtable earlier and someone made a point that's been stuck in my head. brands are so obsessed with subscribe & save that they'll push it on products that make zero sense as a subscription. like you're literally scheming on your own customers. if you actually want LTV you have to think about whether the customer even wants to re-buy on a cycle. some products are a one time purchase and that's fine. forcing a subscription because it looks good on your retention metrics is how you lose trust with people who would've come back on their own

Unashamed to admit I brought a jar of tallow to my lymphatic drainage massage. It was heavenly, incase you were wondering.

@arniewatkins shud create an email in the post purchase flow asking for a review, you could attach an incentive if you wanted. if you give an incentive, mask it in the VIP offer (for recurring customers, the first time they buy again, so you can save on margins)

someone tell me why getting reviews is the hardest part of running an ecomm brand i have customers who've reordered 10+ times and still haven't left one. we put handwritten notes in every single order asking for them. still nothing. happy customers just don't think about it. what are you guys doing to actually get people to leave reviews on your site

your supplement label says "vitamin C" but it doesn't tell you the form. and the form changes everything. ascorbic acid is synthetic and most brands use it because it's dirt cheap. your body absorbs it, burns through it fast, and you pee out what's left. whole food vitamin C from something like acerola cherry or camu camu comes with bioflavonoids that help your body actually use it and hold onto it longer. same vitamin on the label. completely different result depending on the source. flip your bottle over. if it just says "ascorbic acid" you're paying for the cheapest version of something your body barely holds onto.

claude just connected to my Omnisend and built out an entire email campaign for me. subject lines, flows, timing, all of it. i used to spend hours on this stuff. now i describe what i want and it's done in minutes. if you run an ecomm brand and you're not using AI for your email marketing yet you're wasting so much time

Made an app that allows you to record videos as though it’s recorded on VHS. Been waiting for review for two weeks though 🙄. This one won’t be a subscription app, just a pay-once-and-keep app. It’s called VHS 3000.

Kinda blows my mind how shit the products are from really big brands guys who I look up too. It’s a weird thing to hear them preach health and excellence and then shill a protein bar full of shit. Kind of bizarre.

health and wellness CPG really does have a reckoning coming, and in the age of AI and blood testing it's only a matter of time until enough consumers become aware of it. 👀 AG1 has >80 ingredients. 👀 IM8 has >90 ingredients. name a healthy food you know with over 40 ingredients? 👀 they tested the top 10 creatine gummies to see if their servings actually matched the actives on the nutritional label. i think 1 out of the 10 actually had accurate amount. on top of that, creatine converts into creatinine in the oven when the gummies are being made - that's a waste product, not a supplement lol. writing is on the wall.

@ecom_cork it is weird bro. there is a reckoning coming for the health and wellness CPG industry at large.

Who’s listening to all these podcasts? I have 3 businesses, 2 kids, 1 wife and this thing called hobbies. Maybe I’m too European but I don’t get where you find the time or headspace for podcasts.
