Decided I’m taking a break from X. I stopped posting consistently anyway and every time I open the app now I wish I hadn’t. It’s taking my time, my happiness and I actually believe working in silence has way more weight for me personally. Im having a detox, deleting the app and being more of a curator over what I consume rather than scroll feeds. Not sure when I’ll be back on but I’m still releasing apps in the background and will still be posting my progress to my blog where I can talk more and to a more niche group. Have fun 🫡

tried cursor for first time in 3 weeks since switching to claude code and man i forgot how much better claude code is…

@eugene_galaxy No you’re not stupid at all, there’s so much hype around this stuff. Just stick with what you can build things with.

@wakey7dev Same, word by word. Hell I couldn't agree more. At certain days I get a thought "am I stupid and everyone else here is just ahead or its all hype and nobody actually uses MCP".

I never made the switch away from cursor, I never had any reason to. Maybe I’m not a ‘power user’ like the Claude bois will claim but I use it every day and I’ve still not tried anything better (for consumer apps). I also still don’t know, or care, what an MCP is 🤷‍♂️

@ewan_tindale Yeah same. I’m not ready to let Claude code loose on my backend just yet. I like to keep tight control on things there.

@wakey7dev Same here! Cursor is great because it's just the IDE I was already using (vscode) plus all the AI models I'd want to use Might try Claude Code one day but not convinced it's any better

Decided to switch from @plex to @jellyfin after 8 years or so. I always run my server on a raspberry pi with two hard drives attached and unfortunately plex just breaks every 6 months or so and I have to reinstall the server. I’ve heard JF is lighter, so let’s see 🤷‍♂️

Changed this to wake the table when the doorbell detects motion so by the time the doorbell is pressed it’s already been woken up by the person approaching the door. Still not cast iron but it works. Home assistant for the win.

Yesterday I completed my initial build of a smart screen for my video doorbell. I wanted to achieve this workflow: - video doorbell is pressed - tablet in hall shows a live feed - after 40 seconds, tablet goes back to sleep It works well, but the video doorbell does take a second to load on screen as it’s in idle mode when not being viewed. That can be this weeks project.

@DanielStormApps Yeah mine is pretty flat, about 150m2. I have some kids climbing frame and some weird shaped edges but it just maps around them. You have to still strip the edges but it’s a lot easier than a two hour manual cut every other week.

@wakey7dev Nice. Yeah I was thinking I’d run it twice a week so it’s just always mowed. Got a pretty normal yard? Curious of slopes and obstacles.

I now have a small fleet of three robots in my house. Two vacuums, one on each floor, and our newest member which is our new lawnmower. Doesn’t do great on thick grass but for weekly maintenance it’s excellent 💪 I’m being nice to them before the uprising.

@ethanbrimhall @RevenueCat Curious was to how your travel app is handling consumer safety. I always dreamed of building a bigger community app like this (not to do with travel) but I always worried about user safety when meet ups are on offer etc. How do you stop this being abused in the app and offline?

Yeah really good. It's best if you put it on maybe once per week before the grass has time to grow too thick. It will keep it all at a consistent short length. If you end up leaving the grass to grow too thick you will need to cut the grass manually before deploying the robot again for maintenance. I learned that the hard way, it just couldn't get through the walls of grass and it drianed the battery super quick from trying.

Ok I’m on £3k MRR. I know this is a good place to be. But I’ve been here for a year with very little movement. With purchases I make about £4k per month. What is your biggest piece of advice for me to grow to the next step? I’ve tried releasing tons more apps this year and nothing is taking, no matter what trends I follow.
