After my dad died last fall, my sister and I inherited a few quarters of farmland in NW North Dakota. My cousin has been farming it for decades and asked me if we were interested in selling. I told him we weren't and then I made a deal to buy my sister's half at a fair price. My cousin came back to me and offered me a more-than-fair price. Rather than shortchange my sister, I decided to keep 80 acres and we are going to sell the rest to him. One of the reasons I decided to sell is that this land sits within a 2,000-acre field of his. If I was ever going to do anything with the land myself, it would create a fair amount of tension and it would logistically be a pain in the butt for him. But me spending time back home this fall made me realize that I want to spend more time out there with my boys than I have over the last decade. So I bought a little farm 7-8 miles straight east of my dad’s farm just across the border into Montana and it turns out this farm has some world-class pheasant hunting. I think I might have to build a little lodge out there and host some Fullstack Ag work and play meetings!

Looking for suggestions for a good company to transport an air seeder from eastern Montana to Idaho. Any of you guys out there have good or bad companies that you’d recommend or that I should stay away from?

So I wanted to create a high-resolution topo map of our family farm. I downloaded the free Lidar data from the state of ND. But then QGIS, a free GIS software, says their software for Mac is out-of-date. I look at ArcGIS and it’s $700/yr. Which I’d normally be fine with but I don’t really have many ongoing uses for it. I’m sure I could do more research and find another tool out there but I then remember Upwork, where I have hired 100+ people over the years to do various tasks. $10 gets the job done! (he’s getting me a new map with better labels) I’m sure many of you have contractors or people you’ve worked with that can do stuff like this for you. But I really appreciate the timely nature of Upwork and it’s huge marketplace.

@ArnsonSam @NickHorob Your state secretary may need to approve, but a municipality can make just about any demands of a developer they want. Obviously, there's some poker strategy in choosing what to ask for, but issuing bonds shouldn't be any different than typical site/operations requirements.

Does anyone out in X(twitterland) know if townships are able to request bonds from major companies before any major development starts within the area? Retweets appreciated!

@NickHorob Being here around it isn’t great. The construction is terrible and the people they hire are some of the most rude, unfriendly a-holes I’ve seen around here. It was hard to watch beautiful farm land get turned into this.

This power plant is 6-7 miles away from my family farm in NW ND. It’s bringing 500 MW of power online this year, enough to power a few mega AI inference data centers (using Groq LPU’s). (The power is likely mostly spoken for but that’s a huge and valuable amount of energy) This level of compute could generate a few billion $ of free cash flow per year. The Miller’s across the road are my cousins….might be time to do some networking in the AI/data center industry!

Anyone hauling sunflowers to Cargill in west Fargo having issues with low oil tests? NDGI retested several of our loads and there was 3.6% difference in oil content. Over $800/load in premium difference. 6 loads have been retested over a 3 month span and NDGI has always come back higher DM me if you are having the same issues
