#DownstreamUpdate | Three Cheers for the MT Ashrami Ghana: Strengthening West Africa’s Energy Backbone From the shipyards of Ulsan to the hearths of West African households, the commissioning of the MT Asharami Ghana marks a pivotal shift in regional energy logistics. As President John Dramani Mahama officially unveiled this LPG carrier in South Korea, the message was clear: Infrastructure is the missing link in the energy transition. With Ghana currently producing 50% of its LPG needs locally, securing the maritime "bridge" for the remaining 50% is a matter of national energy security. Why This Vessel Matters: - Logistics as Strategy: It strengthens the West Africa Gas Limited (WAGL) initiative, ensuring cleaner fuel moves efficiently across international borders. - Cleaner Transitions: By scaling LPG access, we directly combat deforestation and indoor air pollution, providing a practical "bridge fuel" for millions. - Economic Resilience: Reliable shipping capacity helps smooth supply bottlenecks and stabilize domestic prices against global volatility. The Bigger Picture This isn't just about one ship; it’s about a $35 billion vision to reinforce Ghana’s gas-led economy. From expanding the Offshore Cape Three Points (OCTP) production to fast-tracking the GPP II processing facility, Ghana is positioning natural gas as the anchor for power, industry, and transport. Strategic partnerships with the private sector, like the Sahara Group, are proving that collaborative investment is the fastest way to bridge Africa’s infrastructure gap.

Pulse Spotlight | THE GAP BETWEEN POTENTIAL AND POWER. "Africa does not have a resource problem. We have a structuring, credibility, and execution gap." — @Joshua_Batsa In an era of disciplined capital and shifting global narratives, the difference between a project that powers a nation and a pitch deck that gathers dust comes down to one thing: Bankability. This spring, we sit down with the man at the crossroads of African energy finance. From negotiating with IOCs to advising governments on gas-to-power frameworks, Wingfield Group Founder and Energy Chamber Ghana Chairman, Joshua Narh, pulls back the curtain on what it actually takes to reach FID in today’s market. This edition of Energy This Week was the most challenging & consequential I've written so far. As I was writing: • @aramco's Ras Tanura was hit again • @qatarenergy declared force majeure after Ras Laffan - the world’s largest LNG complex - was shut-in - Qatar’s shutdown takes 20% of global LNG supply offline. - India, whose top supplier is Qatar, has cut gas to the industry - India's biggest LNG importer, Petronet, has declared force majeure - Iraq, meanwhile, is in a total blackout right now - @BP-operated Rumaila, its biggest oilfield, is offline. With tankers blocked from Hormuz, storage is filling up. To know more about the biggest energy crisis since the Gulf War, read my full newsletter (with charts, maps, impact list) below ⬇️ thenationalnews.com/newsletters/en… #SaudiArabia #Qatar #oil #gas #LNG #Hormuz #OOTT

#PulseEditorial | From Mines to Molecules – Green Hydrogen for Ghana’s Industry? Ghana’s minerals (bauxite, manganese, lithium potential) + abundant renewables could produce low-cost green hydrogen — powering fertiliser/ammonia, methanol, steel, and heavy transport while cutting fossil fuel dependence. Promise: turn resources into high-value molecules, create jobs, enable export corridors to Europe. Reality check: huge capex, water constraints, grid bottlenecks, long wait for offtakers and bankable projects. Verdict: not a silver bullet, but Ghana could carve a niche in ammonia/fertiliser and bunkering if policy, finance de-risking, and partnerships align quickly. Full editorial weighs the economics, pathways, and barriers: petropulseonline.com/pulse-editoria… #GreenHydrogen #GhanaEnergy #IndustrialDecarbonisation #CriticalMinerals #EnergyTransition #PetroPulse

#PetroPulseIntel | Rural-Urban Divide Remains Clean Cooking’s Biggest Barrier in Africa Access to clean cooking fuels and technologies is starkly unequal: urban households reach ~55–60% coverage in many sub-Saharan countries (largely via LPG), while rural areas hover below 15% — leaving vast populations stuck with polluting biomass fuels. The divide drives the numbers: urbanization modestly lifts national averages, but rapid rural population growth and limited infrastructure keep the absolute number without access stubbornly high — and even increasing in some places. The human cost is concentrated in rural communities: health burdens, gender inequality, environmental degradation, and lost productivity. Full PetroPulse Intelligence analysis on the latest rural-urban access splits, why the gap persists, and targeted pathways (LPG scale-up, mini-grids, bioenergy) needed to close it toward 2030 targets: petropulseonline.com/petropulse-int… #CleanCooking #AfricaEnergy #RuralUrbanDivide #LPG #EnergyAccess #SustainableDevelopment #AfricaHealth #PetroPulse

#BrentUpdate: Brent Smashes $70 Barrier – First Time Since September! Brent crude has surged back to $70.19 per barrel as of Thursday, January 29, 2026 (@1PM), marking the first time it has hit the $70 mark since September. This represents a solid +1.79 (+2.62%) gain, driven by heightened geopolitical tensions—particularly renewed concerns over potential U.S. action against Iran—and supportive factors like winter weather disruptions. Markets are watching closely: further escalation could add a notable risk premium, with some analysts eyeing $72+ if supply risks intensify. Oil is clearly feeling the heat—literally and figuratively. #BrentCrude #OilPrices #EnergyMarkets #PetroPulse

#DownstreamRundown: Ghana's Fuel Wars Heat Up: @comacghana Draws Line on Price Floor Amid Record Lows! In a bold stand for market stability, the Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (COMAC) is championing the NPA's petroleum price floor policy, urging rigorous enforcement to curb "unhealthy competition" amid a staggering 30% drop in pump prices since Dec 2025. Petrol has plunged into single digits for the first time since 2022—hitting GH¢9.97/litre at Star Oil and Zen Petroleum stations—sparking fierce battles with GOIL (GH¢9.99/litre) and others, complete with free breakfast promos and social media meme wars. But tensions escalate: Star Oil suspended its COMAC membership on Jan 21, slamming the policy for stifling efficient pricing and ignoring calls to scrap it for faster global price transmission. COMAC Chairman Gabriel Kumi counters it's a democratically agreed safeguard against distortions. As OMCs duke it out for market share, consumers enjoy relief, but experts warn of risks to long-term supply and industry cohesion. NPA holds firm, rejecting abolition during deregulation. Dive deeper into this uncharted territory in our full story: petropulseonline.com/top-stories/gh… #gHanafuel #PriceFloorDebate #COMAC #PetroPulse

Let's pray: Heavenly Father, You are the lifter of my head. When life has tried to push me down, You have always pulled me higher. Today, I stand in the truth that nothing can keep me buried when You have called me to rise. Every stone that was rolled over my dreams let it be moved. Every chain that tried to hold my purpose hostage let it be broken. Every “no” that has been spoken over me let it turn into a “yes” by Your power. Lord, take my name into rooms I have never stepped into. Let my hands hold the answers I once cried for. Let my feet walk on territory I once thought was unreachable. I declare: I am rising past the opinions of people. I am rising past my own fears. I am rising into the fullness of what You have promised me. And when I rise, I will point all glory back to You. No man will say they made me they will know God did this. Father, let my tears water my harvest. Let my scars be proof that I survived. Let my story shame every plan of hell against me. Amen.
