You open X…and for once the timeline feels like 2021 again. Excitement. Hope. People talking about real money being committed to support emerging artists. It’s genuinely good to see patrons stepping up. Seeing people put resources behind artists matters. It creates momentum, confidence, and relief in a moment where many are barely holding on and many left already. At the same time, it’s important to stay grounded. We’ve learned this the hard way. Money helps, a lot, but money alone doesn’t build sustainable structures. It doesn’t automatically create careers, safety, or long-term stability for artists. That takes care, continuity, and systems that outlive a single moment of generosity. So it’s great to see the support but we have to be careful not to turn this into another pipe dream. Support shouldn’t feel like a lottery or a one-time rescue. It should strengthen the ecosystem as a whole, not just create headlines or hype. I made that mistake myself when I started back in 2021. I supported artists that didn’t have sales with significant sums, but it was naive, without enough structure or a long-term plan. It helped in the moment, but it didn’t build sustainable ways. Most of those artists eventually left, and it didn’t bring them closer to supporting themselves over time. But if we pair this kind of support with responsibility, realism, and long-term thinking, then this isn’t just exciting news on the timeline but a chance to keep building something that actually lasts this time. The important part is to give the power to artists over time, so they can learn to sustain their own future. That’s also what many have been doing on Tezos for years already. Collectors showing up for the art, not speculation. Passionate teams building continuously. Museum partnerships. Passionate communities of artists lifting each other up, consistently. Articles and spotlights of many different artists. Residencies like from @objktlabs and programs like the FA2 Fellowship with @MovingImageNYC that give artists room to grow and learn. Open calls like Art on Tezos: Beyond creating real opportunities for artists and builders to form long-lasting structures for themselves. This is also a reminder to be vocal about collecting and building. Real patrons exist, and they have existed for years in our space. People who care, who believe, who consistently support artists. They’re not always active on the feed, and they don’t always announce what they do. Sometimes they operate in the background, and because of that, they get forgotten easily. But we appreciate you! Every supporter of this ecosystem is needed and appreciated ❤️
