Afghanistan doesn't need our pity. It needs our friendship. Our solidarity. Our genuine support. There's a difference, and it matters. The women of Afghanistan are not waiting to be saved. Five years ago, the Taliban painted over our murals in Kabul. This week in Vermont, I watched them come back to life. Students at @Middlebury College picked up brushes alongside Negina, Zuhra, Abdullah, and Marwa, and recreated the same murals the Taliban tried to erase. A wall in Kabul became a wall in Middlebury, and somehow the distance between them disappeared. You can paint over a wall, but you cannot paint over a memory. You can silence a city, but you cannot silence a generation. To every artist still resisting inside Afghanistan: we see you. We are still painting for you. On the sidelines of the Ottawa Civic Space Summit, we created a quiet but powerful space for reflection by curating Arif Bahadurii extraordinary exhibition. As civic leaders stepped in, they were not just viewing art, they were witnessing resilience, memory, and the courage to create against all odds.

At the @SkollFoundation #SkollWF, you never know who ends up beside you in a conversation that matters. Today it was @rosariodawson, joining us in reflecting on civic resistance in practice. From lived experience to shared vision, art remains our language of resilience and hope.

After a full day of learning and collaboration, and an incredible opening plenary, the Skoll World Forum continues today with conversations that open our minds, and connections that fill our hearts. In the afternoon, we'll hear from dozens of remarkable speakers, including Ignicious Bulongo of Healthy Learners and Flávia Pellegrino of @PactoDemocracia as they explore how community-driven solutions can blossom into national policy. We'll learn from Adana Omágua Kambeba and Piyush Tewari (@piyushtewarii) of @savelifeindia as they examine trust as the living infrastructure beneath every functioning health system. In the evening, we'll come together as a community to celebrate the newest class of Skoll Awardees: @ChildLifePak, @SmartStartSA, and @IndusAction. And, we'll be joined by actor and humanitarian Richard Gere (@richardgere), in conversation with Project Dandelion Co-Founder Pat Mitchell about the new film he executive produced, Wisdom of Happiness, in which the Dalai Lama shares his universal message of hope and compassion.
