You are making a fool of yourself, and you are not doing it for sex, money drugs or fame.
You are not doing it by crushing your opponents with logic, because you are not a very logical person, contrary to what you believe.
Do you really teach philosophy?
Maybe you should ask your students what they think about your posts on X.

@JoshuaLWatson As the sort of creature that has an interest in breathing and eating, I’m inclined to agree.
English

@JoshuaLWatson She’s basically a compatibility. We compulsorily respond to the world as it presents itself to us but through love (learning to seeing a thing/person for what it is/who they are) we can modulate our perception and thus our response.
English

again, i fail to see why determinism undermines the existence of genuinely loving relationships.
this just seems like a total non sequitur.

@JoshuaLWatson You can't understand what might be wrong if everyone you thought loved you was only pretending to love you?
English

@PAHoyeck @KennethLPearce LITERALLY all he did was walk around asking people questions and answering questions with questions. Everyone knows that isn’t how you do philosophy.
English

@PAHoyeck Ahhh the metaethics seminar I’m taking currently is using this book for half of the readings. We aren’t really reading any of the commentary though, just the essays.
English

we disabuse students of this notion on the first day of humanities grad school

@jonathanbfine Nuh uh. You can experience pleasure while reading in all sorts of ways.

@luscofusch Rebecca Tuvel. Sure she’s controversial, but not because her work is bad.

@luscofusch Yael Loewenstein, metaphysics. Great professor, fantastic writer, I believe Ismael was her advisor.

She’s got a cool essay on phenomenology problems for B-theorists coming out soon I think.

It’s logic. Replace the word negative with “not”. All proposition (including mathematical props) are negative or positive (law of bivalence). So not 2 times not 2 is not not 4. And if it’s NOT “not 4” it must be 4 thanks to double negation. Just like someone who is not not hungry is hungry. If it’s not not raining, it’s raining. Same with the multiplication, it’s just numbers instead of words.

@Flanders_Putnam @RobertTalisse Honestly I think Undertow is up there with the best rock albums of all time. Certainly not THE, but ONE OF, for sure.
English

@RobertTalisse A lot of their discography is slightly overrated ill grant that...but Undertow is a great album. As far as debut albums go, Undertow is up there with Facelift for the best debut of that era IMHO
English

@PAHoyeck I don’t know if these count as “most rich” but Memento, Donnie Darko, and Inland Empire
