Update on the vandalism of the 132kV Owen Falls–Mukono North and Mukono North–Namanve South transmission lines, which caused a major interruption in supply to the Mukono North substation.

PUBLIC NOTICE ‼️ UETCL informs the general public that some towers have collapsed on the 132kV Owen Falls - Mukono North and Mukono North - Namanve South Transmission Lines due to vandalism interrupting supply to the Mukono North substation. The incident occurred this morning at 03:02 hours, one fatality has so far been reported and the Uganda Police has commenced investigations into the matter. Our technical team has been dispatched to assess the damage and restore supply in the shortest time possible. UETCL urges the general public to be vigilant and report suspected vandals to the nearest police station. Vandalism not only interrupts power supply but also a danger to human life. The Head of the State House Diaspora Unit, Mr. Mohammed Bagonza, and his deputy, Mr. Henry Wabyona, arrived this morning at O.R. Tambo International Airport aboard Uganda Airlines flight UR710, accompanied by Mr. Timothy Nkonge, Senior Principal Legal Officer at @StateHouseUg.
They were received by Mr. Moses Kibombo, President of the Convention of Ugandans in Southern Africa (COUSA).
The visit marks the start of the Diaspora Engagement Training and Dialogue in South Africa — a collaborative initiative between the State House Diaspora Unit, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (@UgandaMFA), and the International Organization for Migration (@IOM_Uganda).
The three-day programme will strengthen the capacity of Uganda’s Mission in 🇿🇦#SouthAfrica to effectively engage Ugandans abroad, promote skills mapping, and enhance diaspora participation in national development. #UgandaDiaspora #StateHouseDiasporaUnit #DiasporaSkillsMapping
