Agreed, across the board. And yes, just not by default. I think the transparency option will be useful for showing regular market interaction proof. I don't mind folks seeing that I gave a $20 top for a $3 coffee somewhere because it was just that damned good. If I wanna keep it secret on the other hand, I'll use a z-address (shielded) if the business accepts that. Underground is the way. I just think there are multiple ways to approach the concept, and the lifestyle. I think public accountability is just as important as anonymity though. Right tool right job, many different types of jobs. I also personally take the quantum threat very seriously, and ZCash has good stack to address this preemptively. I think it's fun here as a developer/builder/enthusiast if you can find a way to navigate it by side stepping all the coin go up coin go down insanity 🤣

In fact I think that criminals use it and don't get caught is a very good argument for its anonymity working as intended. Love Monero exactly because it is underground and still embodies the crypto spirit. Zcash is probably just as private, just not by default? The most appealing thing about Bitcoin is not only that it was the first one, but also that there's only 21 million of it and its creator (seemingly) disappeared. The 1M coins he holds is the only risk factor, but if those are truly gone then it will pretty much just appreciate over time until maybe some new tech makes it obsolete. The first one holds all collective belief and symbolic weight. It won't easily crumble, but it's not exciting anymore except as a primary signal / symbol. I'm all for privacy projects & DeFi. Been out of the space for a while but it's getting my curiosity again

I trust the privacy aspect explicitly. Regulators... Who knows. We're at the whims of humans that may have had a bad day shitting their senile pants and decide against/for something based on their pants. I think that Monero has seen some bad players use it and it's been publicized in that sense a bit more. But this isn't a good argument against it imo. Ppl will find a way to use _anything_ in ways not intended, or in ways that grift others. Ironically the insane level of institutionalization of BTC makes me find it even less appealing in the long term than anything else. That being said, no network or coin is immune to this. This is all a small part of why I'm supportive of all privacy networks, and think we should not be in-fighting. Learning ends when egos inflate.

@ArtofOrb @Zcash How secure and anonymous do you think it really is? Why would regulators ever allow full anonymity? I see big VC guys pushing it, never mentioning Monero at all and that makes me suspicious. Although it's probably not a reason to be suspicious if they simply profit more from it
