U.S. Rep. Mike Bost told a crowd of supporters in Waterloo last night that he’s running for a seventh consecutive term in Congress. This morning, President Trump endorsed him again — something sure to make his 2024 challenger Darren Bailey think twice before jumping in again.

Rep. Robin Kelly becomes the second candidate to enter the race of U.S. Senate in Illinois. She'll face Lt. Gov. Juliana Stratton in a Democratic primary in 2026.

Just to put a finer point on this: if evidence comes out in this lawsuit to prove the statements are indeed true, then we're about to learn if Sheriff Alfred Montgomery and his attorney have been lying to the public on camera for weeks about what happened that day at the jail.

Update: we can now report the identity of the homeless woman who died in freezing temperatures outside City Hall. Her name was Jennifer Pendleton. She was 36 years old. She was known to city police. She recently had contact with a city police officer within the last week.

Mayor Jones’ office confirms Streets Department Director Betherny Williams took a temporary leave to recover from a surgery before the pending snow storm. Per spox, Williams remains involved in planning discussions to prepare for the storm while she’s out. No ETA on return.
