even if none of the stories about jesus historically happened i would still be a christian because that’s how much the stories of jesus have transformed my life and how much i think they can still transform the world

So here’s the thing…even IF there wasn’t a parable *explicitly* undermining this narrow idea of neighbor, Jesus also said “love your enemies.” There’s simply no escaping the fact that Jesus calls us to radically expand our concepts of love and hospitality.
Rich 🐺@heywildrich

when "love thy neighbor" was written, your neighbors were likely extended family members, or people your family has known for generations. not some random africans or indians that got airdropped into Ohio last week.

These kinds of fabrications are becoming so exhausting. @GetOnTap here are the facts: the Amish did not build any homes in Mitchell County. County Commissioners have not kicked anyone out of their tiny homes. Because of your distortions of the facts…
The Appalachian Podcast@GetOnTap

I recently came across this photo of Harley Masters, County Commissioner for Mitchell County, NC. There has been a lot going around about people being kicked out of their tiny homes, and she addresses that issue in a Facebook post that I’ve also shared. Basically, she states no one has been kicked out, they’re just not allowed to move in because of “code”. Now if anyone has ever dealt with county building inspectors you know they’re typically bottom feeders, sent to extort money from citizens and contractors. With that being said, when an emergency happens that has devastated a community, and they need all the help they can, hiding behind ridiculous code is a cowardly, evil, move. People can’t live in sheds because it might not be safe, so put em out in the cold because that’s much safer? How many times have local governments completely ignored the constitution when they want to enforce one of their edicts? Look no further than Covid for a plethora of examples. When it suits them you can bet your last dollar they’ll skirt the law. Bottom line is the government is not your friend. Not local, not state, and certainly not federal. This is not a good person, nor is anyone who is enforcing this, and I don’t care what excuses they come up with. They can give their community a chance, they simply choose not to.

Now it's official: President Biden has pardoned his son Hunter. “Today, I signed a pardon for my son Hunter. From the day I took office, I said I would not interfere with the Justice Department’s decision-making, and I kept my word even as I have watched my son being selectively, and unfairly, prosecuted Without aggravating factors like use in a crime, multiple purchases, or buying a weapon as a straw purchaser, people are almost never brought to trial on felony charges solely for how they filled out a gun form. Those who were late paying their taxes because of serious addictions, but paid them back subsequently with interest and penalties, are typically given non-criminal resolutions. It is clear that Hunter was treated differently.    The charges in his cases came about only after several of my political opponents in Congress instigated them to attack me and oppose my election. Then, a carefully negotiated plea deal, agreed to by the Department of Justice, unraveled in the court room – with a number of my political opponents in Congress taking credit for bringing political pressure on the process. Had the plea deal held, it would have been a fair, reasonable resolution of Hunter’s cases.      No reasonable person who looks at the facts of Hunter’s cases can reach any other conclusion than Hunter was singled out only because he is my son – and that is wrong. There has been an effort to break Hunter – who has been five and a half years sober, even in the face of unrelenting attacks and selective prosecution. In trying to break Hunter, they’ve tried to break me – and there’s no reason to believe it will stop here. Enough is enough.    For my entire career I have followed a simple principle: just tell the American people the truth. They’ll be fair-minded. Here’s the truth: I believe in the justice system, but as I have wrestled with this, I also believe raw politics has infected this process and it led to a miscarriage of justice – and once I made this decision this weekend, there was no sense in delaying it further. I hope Americans will understand why a father and a President would come to this decision.”

I do not understand the Republican hatred of Zelensky. He is the Churchill of our times. He has worked tirelessly for the freedom of his people. He is everything they claim to want in a leader....yet they hate him. I don't get it. (Actually I do know why.....)

Imma try to keep this brief but quick history lesson... this specific rhetoric is literally how the Nazi party rose to power. I studied abroad in Berlin and learned a lot about the Weimar Republic which I had never even heard of before. They don't teach it here on purpose (1/?)

Dear Christians... Legit question. I really want to know. When you say "No matter how bad things get, we can always count on God..." What exactly does that mean? Count on God for what? It seems a VERY privileged take, so I'm trying to understand.
