@ifOnlyKantala DINK is prevalent only amongst the top tier (earning) couples, working professionals and mostly corporates. They understand the fragile nature of their earnings.

If Indian couples were choosing a DINK lifestyle, IVF centers wouldn’t be popping up on every corner

DINK - if one spouse gets bored of the other spouse and divorce, what happens next? If one of them dies, what happens? Will they remarry, if this happened at a young age ? Perhaps yes. But what if this divorce or death happens when they are in their 40s or 50s or 60s? Is it easy to find another partner at that age? What happens if one spouse of the DINK couple falls chronically ill when the couple is relatively young, say in their 30s or 40s? Will the other spouse take care of the ill spouse lifelong? Will the well person feel that it's a lifelong burden to take care of ill person? Afterall they had signed up for DINK, to enjoy, not to be straddled with single income and an ill spouse.... Or will the person divorce his/her ill spouse? I have seen more divorces of DINK couples when one of the spouses is unwell. What happens to ill person now after divorce? Who will take care of them? The parents? The siblings? They would have lost their job due to their illness.... Many many questions.... It's not easy as one thinks.. People wanting DINK should think of all possible scenarios and be prepared for them. Ofcourse, end of the day, it's their choice. And I get this... My take: have kids.... Kids provide some emotional respite - whether couple is together, divorced, single, unwell or well spouse - kids with their love and affection, their mischief, their antics, their support - they provide the emotional and mental strength for the couple/person to keep going in life. Life changes for the better when kids are around. #DINK

Never marry a short height girl. There are high chances that your kids may get her height. And there is no cure of it. Its pure genetics. Later, you might have to compensate her height with cash, gold and what not. If you are a tall man, look for similar height woman for marriage. If you are a short man, still look for a tall woman to increase the chance of having tall kids. A good tall height helps is lot of sports and jobs. It gives you an edge over short people in terms of confidence and attraction.

Ground reality is different. So there is one extended relative of mine whose daughter is short in height (below 5 feet), and they were struggling to find a groom for her. Eventually they found one. Not only that, but the bride's parents gave 25 lakh in cash, 1 kg gold, 10 kg silver, and all the extra things. They even gave gold sets to the entire member of the groom's family because the girl was short in height. If you feel like India is getting progressive, everyone is accepting their own body, but on ground level this is still not true. People still get judged on their height, colour, face, weight, eyes, nose, voice and everything; if you aren't good enough, you need to compensate in some other way.

@Dhimahi11 If you are employed in a good job, hv fit body, a good dressing sense and sense of presentation n personal branding, well-read and intelligent, none of this wud matter...height wud not b the only variable which society wud luk for ...

Let me speak on this for a minute. I am watching my 57-year-old husband struggle to find a job and a lot of his thinking is "I can't do anything but the stuff that I've always done, and there's some of that I can't do anymore because I'm all busted up from doing it all these years." The busted-up part is true. The trades take their toll on you. And I get the limited thinking, for sure...who can start over at 57? Especially when the hiring process is so online these days and they toss you aside before they've ever spoken to you in person. What I'm hoping for, and what I think will be true, is that someone, somewhere, will still see the value he still can hold in the working world.

Kids are inexpensive. Diapers are not that much. They eat so little. Vaccines are either free or low-cost. The real expense starts when they turn two and now you have to book an entire seat for them on a flight.
