@Chris_M_Author General Veers is one of my favorite characters. I always love how he goes “target, maximum firepower” and his ATAT first shoots some random retreating dude THEN fires at the shield generator.
English

So, I'm rewatching the old SW trilogy the other day, and it comes to me just how much of a joke Didney made of the franchise.
The guy pictured is General Veeres, and he's extremely competent! Darth Vader orders him to prepare for ground assault. He did it, decimated the rebel Hoth infantry, sent them in full retreat, blew up the power generators, dropoed the Imperial forces on site, and paved the way for Vader's landing party. The empire actually had competent people who (for movie purposes) only went retarded when our protagonists were involved.
Yes, the stormtroopers suck at shooting in a few scenes, but it has far more to do with classic "plot armor" than skill because they go absolutely ham on other rebel troops.
Disney took the concept and made it into an even bigger running gag with beta incel officers. The officers in the old series were hard-nosed and evil.

@RealLifeFakeWiz The most disturbing part is realizing the sequels came out 10 years ago what the hell
English

“In 10 years the Sequels will be as beloved as the Prequels”
Welcome to 10 years later.
They’re as hated today as they were 10 years ago.
Disney turned a $4 Billion brand into a $4 Million brand.

@Dork4Short I feel like this card would be hilarious with eldrazi spawn/scions
English

@chef_kawasakii @Bunchofnumeros @sickspitefulman @nick_field90 Nobody's insulting anyone here (at least I hope you don't think I aim), although I would agree that yeah a lot of PT fans aim their vitriol at the ST.
I also find the whole "star wars fan" a bit funny in general. Too many people trying to find their identity in a franchise
English

@Ashurhaddon @Bunchofnumeros @sickspitefulman @nick_field90 Well yeah, people are free to have their opinions.
I just draw the line when people start throwing insults or claiming that you aren't a "real Star Wars fan" because you enjoy the ST.
You'd think Prequel fans would've learned from how they were treated back then, but alas...
English

Tough focus group for Star Wars, as five 17 and 18 year-olds show no interest in The Mandalorian and Grogu puck.news/hollywoods-202…

English

@chef_kawasakii @Bunchofnumeros @sickspitefulman @nick_field90 I think you’ll find just as many of us would be baffled by you defending TLJ and the ST in general.
English

@Ashurhaddon @Bunchofnumeros @sickspitefulman @nick_field90 I am 21 years old but even as a child I didn't like the Prequels. Nowadays Ep. 3 is the only PT movie I enjoy and I am genuinely baffled how many people defend Ep. 1 and 2.
Even though the ST has issues, I much prefer it to the Prequels.
English

@Bunchofnumeros @sickspitefulman @nick_field90 I wish people would understand this! We loved them growing up and were puzzled by the hate they got. Now we have our own voice, and the haters are struggling with understanding they were the vocal minority all along
English

@sickspitefulman @nick_field90 That was always nonsensical cope. The prequels were always adored by children (this was reflected in toy sales) and those sane children, who loved the prequels, simply grew up, they never “reevaluated” anything.

@Benson_MTG @uwotc_official Just for this comment any deck you play is going to get paired against its worst matchup and you'll be on the draw for the next week.
English

@uwotc_official I haven't laughed this hard in two weeks. A union...for the clowns that run Arena. Why do I constantly get opponents in diamond or higher when I am in platinum?

I had a female roommate who bought a bird for a pet. The bird loved me immediately and it eventually grew to hate her. She sold it after less than a year.
Cozy@cosyposter
"A European study found urban birds flew away sooner when approached by women than men. Men got about 1 metre closer on average before the birds scarpered. It held across 37 species and five countries. Scientists don’t know why. They controlled for height, clothing color, direct gaze, and long hair being visible.."

@SandyofCthulhu I by default don't trust any media that "gets better" if you endure it. I've come to view these people as having sunk cost fallacy for a series! It's ok to not finish something.
English

A friend suggested The Wheel of Time, by Robert Jordan. I read a little bit, then whined to him, "I read 100 pages and nothing happened." He said, "Give it another 200 pages." Anyway I never read another word. Maybe it was awesome. But I don't want to earn the right to enjoy a book. this rule particularly applies to games. An early game might have a restricted field of choice, but those choices need to exist.
If you turn on Age of Empires, you start with a town center, three villagers, and some resources. What should you do? Find sheep? Hunt deer? Lure boars? find berries? Build a house? You have many choices.
At the start of my board game Cthulhu Wars you have 6 cultists and a gate. Almost everyone starts the game by moving a cultist and building a gate. But where do you move that cultist? What's your third move? Summon a monster? Move a second cultist? Go after a spellbook? Games are about interesting decisions that matter.

English

@GoonerGamesClub Right I think this is my issue, I was fine with soft cover etc but I didn't like how gears of war it was
English

@Ashurhaddon kinda always was, they just changed how it worked to be more like gears instead of the soft cover system

@simonsarris Yes but you are also introduced to the barbell effect of: the average person cannot maintain the average condo. I honestly think that unless you have a family getting a house makes no sense.
English

I used to be against condos but I now believe something that sounds odd, but I'm pretty sure is true: The average person cannot maintain the average house.
Condos ameliorate that.

I still don't really understand what a condo is

@clareanneath Insecure women come up with stuff like "you took the easy way out" with C sections and "oh so you had an easy kid" as if it's some sort of trophy that they had a hard kid. Then they take the trophy and bash other moms. It's really sad.
English

@eruphim @PaulSkallas Certainly, there is still a lot possible. I know it gets memed on but your best bet is powerlifting. I’ve seen mid 30s women who’ve seriously improved their fitness just doing powerlifting programs and eating decently well
English

@Ashurhaddon @PaulSkallas Not in a professional sense , but I'm naturally strong. I was more thinking about for women. I've seen Landshark post studies that found rare cases where like a 30 year old woman became taller from drinking a lot of milk or something. If you pull out the "full suite" treatment...
English

There's benefits for dedicating one phase of your life to getting as strong as possible. Peak strength leaves residue.
Muscle memory is real. You can gain strength easier in the future if you take time off.
You're also someone with stronger tendons and denser bones because of it.

2026 is the year I undo all the damage “Powerlifting” and Mark Rippetoe did to me No man has harmed more young men than Mark. He turned a whole generation of men into fat unaesthetic >30% bodyfat human pears with huge asses and wide birthing hips He is going to hell
English

@eruphim @PaulSkallas Did you play any sports or do anything athletic beforehand? If no, you’ll still see benefits, but it obviously won’t be as intense as if you’d started earlier
English

@PaulSkallas What if you start really lifting at 30? Especially if you were starving before...surely there's much payoff to that
English
