But if I were the governor and planning to veto retail I'd probably first sign resentencing to establish a not totally anti-cannabis record and get some social justice points. It calls on the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to address the “proliferation of Federally unregulated ingestible, inhalable, and topical products that contain intoxicating cannabinoids.”

I think $VREOF is one of the more interesting plays in Canna. It's a bit of a sleeper while being a Tier 1. They have a clean BS with significant cash and rolling up at attractive valuations (not including pro-forma synergies) 3-4x EBITDA. Also trades at a discount to Tier 1s at 4-5x max. I acknowledge the execution risk but what's the bear case vs other Tier 1s?

However, investors also need to understand the risks: the process can be delayed, legal hurdles can arise, and the cannabis sector remains one of the most volatile on the stock market. But if Schedule III becomes a reality, many will see this period as the beginning of a re-evaluation of the entire cannabis sector on Wall Street.

To anyone interested in the sale/buy back portion of this $MSOS : This fee is separate from the big 280E tax relief that comes with Schedule III (which lets operators deduct normal business expenses on federal taxes). The administrative fee is purely the treaty-compliance cost.Bottom line: We know exactly how it will be calculated and the current 2026 rate ($113/kg), but the effective per-kg amount for commercial-scale operations will be recalculated annually and is expected to be much lower once the quota scales up. No percentage-based “tax” was announced. If you’re a licensed operator, your nominal-price buy-back will just tack on this small per-kg fee.The current $113/kg figure is based on the tiny existing research/bulk-manufacture quota. Once state-licensed medical marijuana production is folded into the federal registration system (with a much larger quota), the denominator will explode while program costs won’t rise proportionally. The per-kg fee will almost certainly drop sharply in the next annual update. The announcement doesn’t change or preview a new rate—it simply applies the existing Part 1318.06 framework to the expanded program. The DEA administrative fee will have a negligible impact on cannabis companies' costs and profits—especially once commercial-scale quotas kick in. It's a tiny added per-kg compliance cost that gets dwarfed by the massive profitability boost from 280E tax relief.
